I’m a sociologist at heart, it’s what I studied in college, and it’s never left me. I am a student of people, and today, C is for “culture.” But I discovered something, looking for my morning book: there are too many amazing-looking books on culture to pick only two for the day. So I’m going a little crazy–also a C word–and posting a bunch, sans descriptions, covers and titles only. And you’ll see what I mean.
The Hippest Trip in America: Soul Train and the Evolution of Culture & Style
Anything That Moves: Renegade Chefs, Fearless Eaters, and the Making of a New American Food Culture
Odd Girl Out: The Hidden Culture of Aggression in Girls
American Nations: A History of the Eleven Rival Regional Cultures of North America

A topic as vast as any ocean; where to start? I’d probably start with the ‘culture of female aggression’ book. I wonder if it’s heavy enough to beat someone with?

OK, that absolutely made me laugh loud enough for the neighbors to wonder if I’d lost my mind. I know, it’s an intriguing subject, but they all are! That’s how I got here this morning 🙂

This is a selection of intriguing looking books! There’s so much to read and say about culture–it’s true that it’s tricky to know where to begin!

Exactly, and trust me, this is narrowed down. There will be four more this afternoon. I had to stop looking, because the more I looked, the more I found.

Sociology is really interesting. I majored in Psychology, which obviously isn’t the same, but has enough crossover that I find it just as interesting!

Me too, just in the other direction. I think if we didn’t find people so fascinating, we wouldn’t be writers.
