Quest, queen, quell, quench, quest, quit, quagmire, quip, queue, quest….
Notice a pattern? Me too. Somehow the mental transmission got stuck in quest gear. Quest.
We just don’t get enough quests these days, unless we’re characters in a fantasy story, in which case do people actually eat dragon and what’s a unicorn go for these days?
But I digress.
There’s a reason the story of the quest endures; it ignites something in us. That deep, quiet place inside us yearning for adventure; for tests of moral fortitude; for exotic lands and exotic sights.
For some, the idea of the quest leads them to far-flung corners of the Earth, or perhaps even beyond. Others find every quest they ever need nestled between the covers of books, be they electronic or analog.
But we wouldn’t be human if, while searching for Q words, quest didn’t pop up time and again.

A Bit to Read 
My quest today …
is to catch the teeny tiny mouse that has found its way into my kitchen. I’m pretending to be brave, but so far have scared it away by shouting. I’m wondering if I’ll need to attempt catching it before himself gets home. Or how long I can keep my feet off the floor.

Debs, it’s a real, old-fashioned quest! It’s your dragon. YOU CAN DO IT! Slay it, and by “slay it” I mean catch it humanely and take it outside.
Or wait until he gets home and let him deal with it! 😉

D’you know, he just laughed at me and stepped over my humane trap (a wellington boot with a trail of cheddar cheese). I’ve subsequently been told that peanut butter is needed – and I have to admit that I have none. I love it but, if there’s a jar in the cupboard, I’ll eat it by the teaspoonful. I may have to bite the bullet and sacrifice myself for the quest ;o)

I have heard they like peanut butter. I definitely understand the dilemma, I have foods like that. Ice cream in the summer is particularly risky.
The things we must do to soldier on! Peanut butter it is.
Also I love that the end of your trap was a boot. I hope you’re taking notes on this saga, it will make a lovely story.

Ah yes, I thought about using the word “quest” too! I’ve always liked it – it’s rather inspiring and sounds cool when you say it.

My quest for this year is to tow the caravan behind the car. I usually let my husband do this but we will be driving to the Kimberley in North West Australia which is about as far from where we live as you can get by road. I will need to relieve him driving as he is having back problems. If I don’t drive we may not go and I do so want to explore this remote area.
