On the one hand, I think there’s a really good reason for it. Given what’s going on with our, uh, “government,” for lack of a better word, I can’t take my eye off of the news. It seems that things are happening, and they may be happening quickly. This may be the most pivotal moment in history in most of our lifetimes.
It’s tough to look away, let alone to disappear into another imaginary world.
On the other hand, that sounds like it might be a bit of an excuse, doesn’t it? What’s that, hypothetical reader? That’s what you said?
Hmm.
And, as it often goes, I now have a new idea I want to work on. So many shiny things.
How’s it going for you? Anyone made progress?

Understandable that you’ve struggled with his Orangeness continuing to cause huge concern. Although I did chuckle that you’ve got a new idea forming 🙂
I must admit I’ve been struggling with my planning too. During a week away from work when I house, cat & builder-sat, I thought I’d be able to make progress. But what a PITA it was. The cats clambering onto my chest, lap and keyboard were the easy bit, handling the problems the builders keep uncovering was another story. No wonder my SIL is suffering. I must remember to give my brother a good slap & make sure he’s more supportive & appreciative. Anyway, back home, work is quiet, so I’ve pulled out my workbook and will be diving in. Two(ish) weeks to go …

I’m glad to hear you’re at least PLANNING. I sit down to work and I’m drawn back to twitter, because I’m SURE something is about to go down. Yesterday I worked out for an hour, came back and found that the orange one asked Comey to end the Flynn investigation!
Although maybe if I do focus elsewhere, it will resolve things. Huh.
Your poor SIL! Yes, it sounds like your brother needs a reminder.
But hey, we can still make progress, not over yet!

#MAYkingItWork has motivated me to finish a blog post that’s been sitting in my files for months. I haven’t published the post, but at least I’ve gotten my thoughts organized and my writing polished. Perhaps not the giant life-changing writing success that we dreamed of when we talked about this hashtag, but it’s something. And I can be happy with that.

1. That’s ALREADY more progress than I’ve made and 2. Everything counts. EVERYTHING.
I really think the striving for perfection is one of our greatest barriers to doing things. The only point of this is to face something you started and haven’t finished.
You’ve done that. And that’s excellent.

I agree about the perfection conundrum. It catches me unaware many times.

Me too. It can be so paralyzing.

Do you you know the book Eric! by Terry Pratchett? The inept wizard Rincewind saved the world in a previous book, but got…lost in another set of dimensions. At the beginning of Eric!, certain people are prone to hearing Rincewind and the Luggage running by, although they are not really there. I am currently feeling a lot like Rincewind. Needless, to say, very little progress to date. But i remain positive.

never heard of the hashtag but my driver actually just gave me some inspiration the other day so I’m excited to get working on it….

Update:
Posts for the new site are pouring out of my fingers. The planning of the novel, not so much.
Need.To.Focus and stop with the short-term gratification.
Someone, kick my arse please …

Oh Debs, I TOTALLY GET IT. I’ve been very productive, but in different directions. Sometimes life and the universe get in the way!
None of it is wasted, though.
(End encouraging, enter motivation)
New challenge: We have ONE WEEK of May left. Your challenge: Outline THREE chapters.
(The other me was nicer).
Me?
I will complete at least ONE chapter of my chosen project, though other things are currently more relevant 🙂

Yes’m, thank you m’am. Seriously, making it three chapters feels a LOT less daunting.
Now you [cracks whip] get on with that chapter 😀
