Me to myself just now: “OK. One…two…three…BLOG! And BLOG!
“Any second now.”
Apparently I’m too familiar with my mental tricks for them to work.
Or am I?
I think I’m heading for tea today, rather than another cup of coffee. It’s gray outside again, not for change, that’s for sure, and tea sounds cozier to me.
I know what’s coming next in the manuscript I’m working on, and I think I’ve been putting it off. I’d like to blame my protagonist who is definitely putting it off, but seeing as she’s a figment of my imagination, it’s possible we might both be a little bit responsible.
Meanwhile that tea isn’t going to make itself. It should.
But it won’t.
I hope you have a wonderful Wednesday.
It’s pretty chilly for June. Last year, we were steaming away with incredibly high temps, and this year, it’s feeling like April.
I’ll take the cooler temperatures but I’m not sure everyone would agree.
Yesterday’s can-do optimism has given way to something else, something waterlogged with the news that just keeps going, with one ridiculous thing after another.
Exhausting stories of endless entitlement and unearned privilege, of shocked horror at consequences for actions, of people who should stay quiet asserting they have the right to be front and center.
You have to wonder if this is all deliberate, stuck as we are in the minds of writers. I feel like it’s shifted to Bradbury at this point.
Maybe more coffee would help. I’ll think about that.
Regardless, off I go into the great expanse that is Tuesday. Have a fabulous day.
Sometimes I wonder if we’re a little unfair to Monday. I mean, there it is, just doing its Monday thing, getting the week going after a weekend of inertia.
It’s got to be a rough gig.
No one ever says “Thank goodness it’s Monday!” It doesn’t have restaurants named after it, there are no Twitter trends with “yay” right in the name.
“Monyay” doesn’t have the same ring.
But Mondays do bring with them a unique gift: a new start, each and every week. Even if the official start of the week is Sunday.
See how a day could get grumpy?
Let’s try to embrace the Mondayness of it all, and make it a real sleeve-roller-upper.
Have a great Monday.
I guess we’re sticking to weekly? Habits are habits, it seems.
It’s felt like a longer week than it was, but that tends to happen in this brave new timeline. So much information constantly coming at us makes everything feel like it’s elongated.
Yet here we are.
So on to the task at hand, the week. If you were following along this week, you know already that I had a huge breakthrough with a book that’s been sitting. I’ve made progress in it, and it’s careening toward a conclusion, which is a nice feeling. Especially when something has stalled for so long.
When it comes to fitness, five days, five workouts, though Monday had a bit of a problem as the service wasn’t working properly. I substituted a really fun dance workout that was in the site library, and onward we went.
That’s my week. How was yours?
It’s ten word photo prompt time! Using the picture above, write a ten word story. Exactly ten words.
Her tail the last to form, soon she’d be home.
I keep thinking today is Thursday. It’s not Thursday, it’s Wednesday. Not sure why I’m stuck on Thursday, but I guess we’ll find out tomorrow.
So I had one of those breakthroughs yesterday, an epic breakthrough like a dam bursting, where I finally, finally figured out a major plot point in one of the many stalled books I have going.
Stalled no more.
It’s the writer’s high we’re always chasing, that moment when you think, “Oh, THAT’S it.” When it all comes together, when it all finally makes sense.
My back brain is much smarter than my front brain. No question.
Now all I have to do is get it down on paper. Easy right?
You can join me again when you stop laughing.
Anyway, I’m off to imaginary worlds. Have a wonderful day in yours, imaginary or not so.
Well behind us. Thank all that’s thankable for that.
The day did not improve, as the Roomba immediately wedged itself again, and then another string of annoyances. But yesterday was yesterday, today today, and never the twain shall meet.
And here we are.
It’s another stunningly beautiful day, and so far things seem to be somewhat less out to get me. Nothing’s jumped out of the fridge at me, so I’d call that a bonus.
Otherwise, not much to report today, I’m feeling languidly reflective, despite my coffee. Perhaps there should be more in my future.
And with that, I launch myself into Tuesday. Have a great day.
