#MondayThoughts: Eh

Standard

So “eh” that I got as far as the headline and then…nothing. Why yes, I’ve had my coffee, and even a little bit of chocolate, but it just doesn’t seem to be doing the trick.

It’s a Monday, all right.

My thoughts are mushy and muddled, though the rain and fog and gloom seem to have packed up and moved on. It’s sunny, not sure how warm though.

It is the end of September, after all.

Sorry, I got distracted by Shakespeare’s death. True, it’s not exactly recent news, but like I said, my brain is mushy. Apparently he died on his 52nd birthday, it’s assumed, in 1616.

Now you’re distracted by Shakespeare’s death.

Anyway, I’m going to try to shake some thoughts loose. Have a spectacular Monday.

Behind today, I was waylaid by a tweet that has generated a bunch of responses, some of them thoughtful, some of them abusive, some of them just plain propaganda. And again.

I need to focus on us here. Hi.

So not much writing done this week unless you count tweets, though I did make a joke that got a good reception and no mean comments so I feel like that’s an accomplishment.

Fitness, five days, five workouts but I was really draggy this week. Even today the trainer was one of my favorites and it was one of my favorite types of workout. It flew by but it was a struggle.

I may have a cold but I feel like I’m fighting it off.

Meanwhile it’s thunderstormy and I love it.

So that’s me. How was your week?

Ten Word Photo Prompt: Escalation

Standard
Photo by Anthony DeRosa on Pexels.com

Well it must be Thursday because it’s photo prompt time! Using the photo above, write a ten word story.

Exactly ten words.

Easy as pie. Which I assume isn’t easy because pastry seems challenging.

Ready? Here’s mine:

“Twilight Zone” intro ensnaring her? Least weird thing happening today.

#WednesdayWisdom: And it tastes terrible

Standard

If you, like me, are a fan of “The Good Place,” (tragically beginning its final season tomorrow), you will understand this simile, as I feel much like Chidi and his marshmallow peeps chili.

Here’s the scene because it’s brilliant.

ANYWAY, with the news of the reality that the Russia investigation didn’t even slow trump down when it comes to illegally soliciting information from foreign governments, nor leveraging US assets to do so, I kind of feel like my brain is broken. So much corruption. So out in the open.

But because Mitch McConnell is personally profiting, he will prevent trump from facing any consequences.

So that’s neat.

It’s kind of additionally Peep-chili-prompting to think that a single man can hold the entire US government hostage. Of course, it’s not just him, it’s his whole party, or they would remove him.

And here we are.

Yes, that’s more politics than I usually go into here, but you can’t sit in the middle of an inferno and remark upon the weather for politeness’ sake.

I hope you have as good a Wednesday as is possible.

#TuesdayThoughts: Irked

Standard

You know those mornings where little things go wrong but they’re really, really annoying? I’m having one of those.

The complaints are so minor it’s silly to name them, and yet they manage to deeply irk.

Apparently today I’m irkable.

Like get it together, Morning. Have a little dignity.

It’s a bright, sunny day though there are some wispy clouds, clouds that probably can’t be bothered to be real clouds. Maybe they’re having an irksome morning too.

I had Stuff to do yesterday, far away from writing and editing. No, not at all on purpose, why do you ask?

And I got a new keyboard cover. Two, actually, you got them both when you ordered one, and it’s the cheapest one I’ve bought so far, and I have to say, my favorite. When does that ever work out? Doesn’t impede the typing in the least.

Maybe the irksome is moving on with itself. I hope so. And I hope you have an irk-free Tuesday.

#MondayThoughts: Sigh

Standard

So here we are back at Monday again. This weekend I spent a lot of time being scolded in response to a tweet. The nice thing about twitter, though, is you can just make those people disappear.

Poof.

No worries, I was scolded unjustly as there is nothing people enjoy more than blaming a woman for the faults of men, in this case the Speaker of the House while pretending the turtlely Senate Majority Leader is as innocent as a brand-new hatchling.

In case you were worried.

Nonetheless, here I am on Monday feeling the full Mondayness of it all, and more than a little nonplussed. Which is probably the point, I’d guess at least two-thirds of the scolders were fake accounts.

Social media is so strange. It’s an entirely made-up world, and you have no idea if the people in it are even remotely real. Meanwhile it’s sunny and perfect outside, and there’s no question that that is real.

So that is me on this Monday. I hope you have a great one.

#AccountaClub Friday, September 20, 2019

Standard

So it’s Friday! I hope you had a good time with #PromptaPalooza, it was definitely fun finding the prompts. Not that I’ve done any of them, I should get on that.

But I was away, in Boston for a few days. There’s so much to see there, and I did just a fraction of it. Their art museum, the Museum of Fine Arts is fantastic. I wish I could have covered more, but focused mainly in the American Art, with furniture and portraits and the sense of the time around the founding of our country.

I saw the glass flowers at the Harvard Museum of Natural History, and they are a remarkable sight. They look alive in a way I’ve never seen glass before. I posted some pictures on Twitter if you’re interested.

Overall it was a fascinating trip but it involved no writing. Which is fair, I think, it’s a vacation after all.

But I did keep up with the fitness. I left very early on Friday, but managed to do a Daily Burn workout from the library, a yoga-based one. And then on Monday I used the hotel fitness room. Tuesday I did the Daily Burn workout from Monday, and Wednesday I was back home and back to normal.

Although I walked A LOT in Boston. A LOT. It would be nice to get that much in back here at home, but it’s tougher.

So that’s me. How was your week?

Standard
Photo by Artem Beliaikin on Pexels.com

And here we are, back where we started, closing out #PromptaPalooza with our usual Thursday ten word story. I hope you’ve found some fun and inspiration.

And some great websites for ideas.

Not that you ever get stuck. OF COURSE.

OK so you know the drill: exactly ten words using the above photo as a writing prompt. And what better picture than our PromptaPalooza inspiration?

Ready?

Here’s mine:

Merely a speck, almost too far to see.

Rescue.

Finally.

#WednesdayWisdom: #PromptaPalooza Plot

Standard

Sometimes you just want to go and you don’t want to think about how to get there. And that’s today’s #PromptaPalooza prompt! Plot.

Today we’re using a “really random plot” from Springhole.net. It’s another site up to the brim with generators, and a very fun place to poke around. So fun, you might suffer from too many ideas.

Ah.

Too many ideas.

Today’s prompt: use the following plot.

An annoying werewolf must stop a puppet with a primitive country.

Random generators are definitely wisdom you can use. Have a fantastic Wednesday!
