#FridayThoughts: Overflowing

Standard

It’s brightly sunny and cooler today, true May rather than true August, though May is not hanging around for much longer. Some of the restrictions will be lifted next week.

We’ll see how that goes.

It’s been a long haul, and with so many people uncommitted, it seems this is not going away. Not great, that’s for sure.

Not great.

We’ll just have to remain cautious, remain vigilant, and get rid of this regime in November, as we won’t survive any longer.

Though I just got an email that my salon is reopening. With a whole lot of restrictions. Still, I think I’ll have to try to get in. We have to sign a waiver for a service, though.

Ah, this weird new world.

And in some ways, same very old world, where oppression is the hobby of those with power. That’s tough to escape right now.

Anyway that’s me for the week. Have as great a Friday as you can and a fantastic weekend.

#WednesdayWisdom: None to spare

Standard

It’s been a long short week, and I thought it was Thursday this morning. It is not Thursday this morning.

The weather turned hot, and I can’t get the temperature right, I’m too hot or too cold, and the news of the world shows no signs of improvement.

I’d say my mood today is glum. Fitting, I think, given the state of things.

It’s weird how people have just decided the pandemic is not a thing, and 100,000 people dead or not, off they go to be normal, with a great big shrug to life or death.

As long as it’s someone else’s life or death.

That doesn’t bode well for humanity.

I told you I had no wisdom to spare today. Or to even fill my own cup a quarter of the way. I guess that will happen in the apocalypse.

Anyway, have as great a Wednesday, which isn’t Thursday, as you can.

#TuesdayThoughts: Take a break

Standard

My mind is filled with non-bloggy things, so today I suggest you read my books. Start with Aunty Ida, she’d know how to get us out of this place.

After getting us into it first.

#MondayThoughts: And onward yet

Standard

Here we are at the far end of May, Memorial Day. When we started this month it felt like it would last forever, yet another stretch of sheltering in place.

But it was gone in a blur, a series of slides of the view from my window, a collection of lounging clothes.

Outside today it is blue and green and dotted with what remains of the flowering trees, my favorite part of spring, missed until next year. Parks are still closed, as they should be, I was walking on Saturday and people crowded the sidewalks, many without masks despite the requirements.

I don’t know when or if this will ever end, not with the packed scenes online, people on boardwalks and in pools, jammed together defiantly.

We’ve entered a realm where reality is not reality, and the masses agree, whatever you think is what it is, until it’s not.

Meanwhile, a moment to honor the men and women who have lost their lives in service to this country, and the many who have lost their lives needlessly at the hands of this regime.

Have a peaceful Memorial Day.

#FridayThoughts: Thinky?

Standard

Don’t know about you, but after months of this sheltering in place, here at the far end of another week, I am tired of the sound of my thoughts. They’re willfully disorganized and very, very loud.

So many times I’ve tried to file everything neatly away in there, but they force themselves out of the drawers, tumbling, one after another, an inside-head tornado.

Definitely too thinky.

And they aren’t productive thoughts, they aren’t thoughts I can run with, because everything wants to be done at the same time.

I think it’s this feeling of having nothing but time to do things, it makes you want to do…nothing. Who isn’t at their most productive with deadlines looming?

Today’s Daily Burn 365 workout was a fundamental yoga one, and I found myself everywhere but in the moment, itching to be more physical, to do anything but be still and breathe. I think I’m out of practice.

I ended up doing the Daily Burn HIIT workout on Amazon Live afterward, the exertion helped.

So that is me on this Friday, thinking I need to get yoga back in my life. You have a magnificent Friday and a perfect weekend.

#WednesdayWisdom: Well THAT was an adventure

Standard

Today was grocery shopping, for me and my parents, but they are getting a lot of stuff delivered, which really makes it easier for me. Still, I know what they like and what they’ve mentioned that doesn’t make it onto the list, and what might brighten this quarantine for them.

The store was pretty empty, and people kept their distance, which was nice. I had a bunch of coupons from the Monopoly contest I couldn’t use and managed to give them to someone in the parking lot.

Score.

Smooth sailing, right? So I drop off the groceries, I’m talking to my dad outside their building and there’s this huge BANG. He says a car blew a tire, and as we watched, it hit one parked car, driving it onto the sidewalk, and then crashed into another.

We went over to see if the driver was OK, a jogger was already there. The man behind the wheel was shaking, and I asked if he needed medical attention, and he said yes.

So we called for an ambulance, and it took a while so we each separately tried again, and finally it arrived, right after the fire truck.

And that was where we left it, because then we were in the way, and I still had groceries in the car.

Remember the groceries?

I had to go a very long way around to get home, only to realize I forgot to give my mom her flowers. Sigh.

I turned back and handed them off to my dad on the far side of their building, since the front was blocked.

So the smooth trip turned extra bumpy. I also discovered I have my parents’ blueberries and peaches.

Double sigh.

I mean, I thought it was an adventure in these days of nothingdom. Anyway, I hope you have a much smoother rest of your Wednesday!

#TuesdayThoughts: There might be a sun somewhere

Standard

It’s rainy again today, and misty enough the world itself may have dissolved. I can’t be sure that it hasn’t, weird things abound these days.

I’m midway through my coffee, which is rapidly cooling, and I am both tired and awake, which is a strange state of being. So it goes on a Tuesday.

Sunday I spent a window of time untangling a pair of headphones, the wired kind, and every time I look over at them, they’re at it again, working themselves into knots. Why?

I mean I know there’s a whole physics to it, but it’s like it’s broader than that, like they have their very own agenda. I don’t get it.

Anyhow, off I go with my thoughts like headphone wires, bound to get tangled, sooner or later. Have a great Tuesday.

#MondayThoughts: Can you be running late if you have nowhere to go?

Standard

I did things in a different order this morning and now I feel like I’m late for my blog.

How can a person be late for a blog?

I have absolutely no idea. Still, I feel as though I’m behind. Gotta be Monday.

The weather seems fully committed to fog, like it’s run out of ideas and just wants a little privacy. Who are we to tell the weather what to do, the weather does what the weather does.

I’ve had my coffee but I wouldn’t mind more, though maybe I should just reheat what I have, there’s still a bunch left. There we go.

I baked a lot this weekend, starting Friday night with pizza, and then Saturday morning using the rest of the pizza dough for cinnamon rolls. Then I made bread, but the recipe made two loaves, so instead I did one loaf and eight rolls. They came out great, I’m fully breaded, and I think I’m no longer intimidated by yeast.

So that’s me for this gray, gray Monday. Have a great one, and a fantastic start to your week.
