#MondayThoughts: Unraveling reality

Standard

As the so-called “right” LOVES to talk about “false flag” operations, I’m suspecting they planted one of their own in Portland. Does that make me sound unhinged?

At this point does it matter?

People told me for ages that I was “hysterical” over trump, that I was overreacting, that his open and obvious interactions and connections with Russia didn’t exist.

So basically, been there, done that, no t-shirt acquired.

Perhaps it is a brain that constructs stories that so quickly lays obvious plotting bare. Perhaps it’s the eye for the details that make things feel solid or makes them as flimsy as a trump attempt to shift the blame for things happening on his watch to someone who is not in office.

Who knows.

Probably more “politics” than you want, but when the very fabric of what is real can be dismissed with “political” you know you’re in trouble.

Anyway, I’m off into Monday. Have a good one.

#FridayThoughts: Don’t give in to false reality

Standard

If you haven’t read Orwell’s 1984, you should, we are currently living through it. The predominant theme is keeping a sense of reality when external factors try to tell you what reality is, in direct contradiction to what your own senses tell you.

Sound familiar?

As trump tries to sidle his way from incumbent to challenger, with the hopes of pinning his failures incomprehensibly on Joe Biden, hold fast to to what is real. What we see now, the violence that is happening now, this sense of lawlessness that white supremacists can kill at will without consequence, that is all trump.

The destruction of the post office with the hopes of changing the election is all trump. The 180,000 dead of a preventable pandemic, the worst death rate in the world, is all trump. The smoldering ruins of the economy, all trump.

Do not forget the children in cages or Puerto Rico. Do not forget “it is what it is.” Reality is reality. Hold on tight.

Have a great, real Friday and weekend.

#ThursdayThoughts Ten word photo prompt: Nature

It’s ten word story time! Using the above image as a a prompt, write a ten word story.

Exactly ten words.

Sounds so much easier than it is. Ready?

Here’s mine:

Initiating the mating ritual, the Wild Hipster grabbed his dandelion.

#WednesdayWisdom: Fire

Standard

I am a level of enraged today that is difficult to quantify. What trump and his regime have done to this country is unconscionable. “Deplorable” was a kind description.

In Kenosha, Wisconsin, just over the border from Illinois, police officers apparently coordinated with heavily armed white supremacists, who actually shot protesters. One has since died, others are injured.

This would not happen under anyone else. The government has a system of oversight that would have prevented it under normal circumstances; these groups also would have been tracked, as they are, as domestic terrorists.

But no, we are on the precipice of full nazi Germany. Not exaggeration, not hyperbole, it is exactly the same thing that happened before the full takeover, and Melania Trump wore a uniform just like Hitler’s last night to prove it.

This goes beyond politics, this is pure humanity. We are so far into the danger zone, it’s unclear if we can get out again. If you are in the US, vote in the most direct way possible to you. We need to keep the House. We need to win the Senate.

And we need to dislodge this fascist regime.

#TuesdayThoughts: Now with more Tuesday.

Standard

It stormed early in the morning, lightning, rain clattering against the window, and it’s still gray now, at least down around the horizon, with a band of bright clouds above.

Pretty, and quiet.

What a strange year it’s been, nothing quite real, science fiction movies come to life, but with far worse writing. Worst of all, we are constantly being told not to believe reality, but to believe what we are told about reality.

It has to end. It has to.

Yesterday, I was completely on edge, my heart racing for no particular reason, but today I feel calmer. Maybe it was my workout, it was a doozy, and one of my favorite trainers from the past, alas she is no longer with Daily Burn.

Anyway, there are Tuesday things to do this Tuesday, so I might as well get t them. Have a great day.

#MondayThoughts: Unsettled

Standard

It’s a kind of in between day, which fits with my in between mood. It feels like something is going to happen and it’s not going to be good.

Of course that ominous sense is pretty constant now, bad things happen minute to minute and second to second in this twisted timeline in which we find ourselves. It’s relentless and that’s probably the point.

Or maybe it’s just me today.

I probably shouldn’t have more coffee. The caffeine certainly wouldn’t help matters.

Meanwhile, I can’t tell if it’s haze or blue or clouds outside this morning, the sky is a wishy washy color with no clear purpose. Hmm, sounds familiar.

Anyway, I’m going to get a Monday going here. I hope you have a good one.

#FridayThoughts: Flighty

Standard

It’s another sunny cloudless blue day, not too hot, and the trees are starting to pale. Just a little, just at the tops and the edges, but a change in the seasons is coming. And there hasn’t even really been a summer.

We’re all the way around at Friday again, and the Democrats knocked it out of the proverbial park with the convention, judging by all I’ve seen. Which is good, because we don’t want to see what lies beneath where we are, it would only get worse.

I baked bread yesterday, finally, and I always find myself amazed that you can take these boring, bland ingredients and make something like that from them. Flour, oil, water, yeast, sugar and a bit of salt and there you go.

Science.

This week was a little less strange than last, I think, it’s hard to remember from one end to the other. Was the storm this week? Was it last week? Everything feels so elastic.

So that’s me for today, I hope you have a good Friday and a wonderful weekend.

#ThursdayThoughts Ten Word Photo Prompt: Meeting

It’s ten word story time! Using the above photo as a prompt, write a ten word story.

Exactly, precisely ten words.

Easiest thing you’ll do all week!

Except probably not. Ready?

Here’s mine:

Philomena was late to Council again. Sirelda, basking, didn’t care.

#WednesdayWisdom: Don’t be stupid

Standard

This may be a repeat of a topic, but there’s way too much stupidity at this excruciating juncture in time. Don’t add to it.

Think, don’t react. Be aware there are coordinated, careful campaigns to nudge you one way or another, but those directions are not your best interest. Don’t dismiss reality because it’s outlandish, that’s where we are now.

Sometimes the stupidity makes my teeth ache, it’s so intense and so widespread. People want so badly to cling to a version of something that is gone and is never coming back. We live in a post-donald trump world.

It’s interesting how people have taken on his stupidity, drenched themselves in it, how they’ve worn it like a cloak. As though they’ve finally gotten the permission they wanted to turn their brains off, for once and for all. It’s like every dystopian novel mashed into a horrible Frankenreality.

The only way now is forward, and we can’t get there if people keep wandering off on side journeys that make no sense. Be skeptical. Always ask yourself who something benefits and why they’re doing it.

And for goodness sake, take your brain out of neutral. We need critical thinking now more than ever.

Have a great Wendesday.

#TuesdayThoughts: Only be a jerk for justice

Standard

I’ve been thinking about how many people seem to have been waiting for the opportunity to be terrible, to treat other people as badly as they possibly can, and to demand no consequences for it.

It’s very odd.

And yet there they are, like they’ve been waiting for permission all this time. It’s always been there, this seething nastiness, just under the surface.

And they’re the same people who think of themselves as “good people,” insert a religious adjective in there too. As though claiming a religion is enough to give a person morality.

I think they’ve got far less morality than someone who doesn’t talk about it religious terms, because they seem to think the assertion of a religious affiliation is a substitution for actual morality.

It is not.

I don’t know what will happen with those people after trump is gone, whether they’ll slither back under their rocks, their tails between their legs, and pretend they never did anything of the kind.

I guess we’ll see. You have a great Tuesday and don’t be a jerk for the sake of being a jerk. If you’re going to be a jerk, be a jerk for justice.
