As the enormity of what those terrorists did on Wednesday sinks in, as their intent to assassinate members of Congress becomes clearer, it’s difficult to take a day as a normal thing. It feels like we are still in the midst of something, and President Biden cannot arrive soon enough.
The excuses and the normalization from Republicans are nauseating. The ones who have supported this Big Lie, the claim that a legitimate election was somehow stolen, when they know it was not, must see consquences.
This is not like 2016, where we have proof, even some of it from Republicans in Senate, that trump coordinated with Russia to “win.” And with a Justice Department not under his purview, we might discover just how extensive that help was.
No, these were lies created from nothing at all, examined and rejected in court after court after court. Did Putin aid in Wednesday’s coup?
I suspect we will find out.
So here we are, regular citizens of the United States, regular citizens of Russia, separated by thousands of miles and a system that will remove trump next Wednesday, whatever he says. I hope, some day, the same for you, freedom from an oppressive dictator, and the right to have a say in your own government. We’ve gotten a taste of what you live under these last four years.
And that’s it for me, here on this Monday, nine days from getting rid of trump. Have a great day.
