It’s #ThursdayTen time! Using the above image as prompt, write a ten word story.

Exactly ten words.

So so so so easy.

Except when it’s a challenge. Which is basically always.

#WednesdayWisdom: The world keeps turning

Standard

Well it’s Wednesday, which is about the best I can say for it. It’s not it’s fault, it’s mine, I’m probably not at my intellectual best.

Understandably, I’m sure.

It’s another sunny day, another one when it could be 60 degrees or it could be 80 degrees and there’s no real way to know by just looking at it. I could check the weather though.

Modern conveniences.

As I muck onward, weary, uncertain, I’m groping in my empty bag of tricks for something to illuminate your Wednesday, as has become our habit. And I guess what I have today is this:

The earth never stops turning.

I mean if it did, I think it would be a huge problem. Huge. I’m not entirely sure but I suspect, if it suddenly halted, like unseatbelted people in a car that stops moving, we would fly, fly, fly off and perhaps into space.

Perhaps not.

But it doesn’t. Round and round it goes, in this seemingly infinite universe in which our planet is just one in decillions of decillions, spinning around stars so numerous they form almost a solid carpet from our lonely distance.

Maybe the indifference of the universe is upsetting. Maybe it’s a comfort to know our problems are microscopic in the face of all that endless enormity.

Either way, round and round we go.

Have a great Wednesday.

#TuesdayThoughts: Anyway…

Standard

First things first, if you’re looking for an update on my mom, you can read it here. The short version is the stress is taking its toll.

Today is sunny, and it might be warm or cooling off for Fall, I’m not really sure. Sitting here, right now, writing, I’m a little chilly.

But I don’t think I’m going to grab my sweatshirt. It seems far.

I’ve got quiet now, but I didn’t earlier, when I was doing the update. Upbeat, loud voices from the hallway as I tried to put this ordeal into words.

Incongruous, to put it mildly.

Lately my sleep has been packed with strange dreams, weird happenings that make sense at the time, but are ludicrous in the light of day. Perhaps that’s to be expected.

Regardless, they leave me unrested. Perhaps that’s also to be expected.

Anyway, that’s it for me this Tuesday. I hope you have a great one.

#MondayThoughts: A wobble

Standard

Another day, another problem, which I’ll get into in my longer update tomorrow. Nothing so far with this has been easy.

Nothing.

Meanwhile, we’re back to Monday at the very end of September which seems outrageous. All of it is a blur of hospital hallways and the cafeteria and beeps and alarms and complication after complication.

I wouldn’t call it fun.

But it’s pretty today, sunny and warm as though the weather doesn’t care that it’s Fall. There are many things I need to do, that I should have done, but my energy is low at best.

I went to bed before 10 pm last night. I’m not sure it helped.

Anyway, that’s enough of that for a Monday, the last thing you need is demotivation. I hope your week is off to a great start and you have a fabulous day.

#FridayThoughts: Slight change. Well maybe not slight.

Standard

So it’s Friday. My mom was moved to a hospital that also does rehab, we haven’t seen her there yet. We had to wait until she had yet another COVID test.

It’s much further away, so a complicated situation is now more complicated.

Such is life right now.

It’s still chilly here, I think. It was supposed to be warmer today, but I’m not feeling it. Just checked, we’re supposed to go up to the 70s.

So that’s nice.

I don’t have much to say, I’m hanging on by what’s left of my fingernails. I’m sure you know what that’s like.

And I’m sorry you know what that’s like.

And that’s it for me this week. I hope you have a wonderful Friday and a truly enjoyable weekend.

#ThursdayThoughts ten word photo prompt: Halls

It’s ten word story time! Also known as our #ThursdayTen!

Using the image above as a prompt, write a ten word story. EXACTLY ten words.

You can do it!

If you want to.

Ready? Here’s mine:

Homeship’s timing sucked as usual. Xanthabe still had three finals.

#WednesdayWisdom: Strange days.

Standard

It’s rainy today, and much colder than it’s been. Given the chill inside the hospital, it may be my first sweater day of the year.

It had to come some time.

What strikes me right now is how things seem rocky for a lot of people, and not minorly rocky either. Big, undulating, treacherous waves jostling us, disorienting us.

Like the aftershocks of the last year, our attention focused in a singular direction, and suddenly the rest caught up with us.

“Hello,” it says, in that menacing, I’ve been waiting kind of way.

Indeed it has.

So if you, like me, are having at time of it right now, know you are not alone.

And if you, like me, are waiting for the seas to calm, I’m waving to you from my boat.

And if you, unlike me, are basking in glassy waters with turquoise skies overhead, enjoy them, because I know, without your even telling me, that you deserve them.

Have a great Wednesday.

#TuesdayThoughts: One step at a time.

Standard

It’s Tuesday and you probably know that. I did write an update about my mom; you can read it here. Read part 1part 2part 3.

We are moving forward as though through mud, a phrase out of one of my mom’s exercise videos I’ve been repeating back to her as we hope for her to emerge from her current state.

It’s gray and it’s raining, and I’m a little written out with the update, so I’m going wish you a lovely Tuesday and get myself ready for the new routine.

#MondayThoughts: Slogging

Standard

It’s a gray, rainy one today. Appropriate, I guess.

It’s strange to think we’re here at the beginning of another week, more than a month since my mom went into the hospital. The world has shifted.

Most people don’t seem to notice.

I am tired despite sleeping, and my thoughts are just jumbles right now. I’ll probably do another long update tomorrow, though, after missing last week.

You might as well know where we are.

Not that we really know where we are.

Anyway, that’s it for me, I have things to do before sitting in that ICU room for hours on end again.

Have a great Monday.

#FridayThoughts: Incremental both ways.

Standard

It’s been a long, very rocky week. The ups and downs happen from minute to minute.

At some point, I’ll write about it.

But this is not that point.

All I know is one way or another, it’s suddenly Friday and we’re suddenly more than halfway through September in a year that is suddenly 3/4s over.

So very very strange.

And that is it for me this week, I hope you have a good Friday and a great weekend.
