#FridayThoughts: How is it almost Halloween?!?

Standard

I typed that as “Halloweed,” and if anyone wants to license the use of that, let me know. I think my typo is on to something, even if it’s not my thing. The weed part.

Kind of the Halloween part too, but I like to see people enjoying it.

It’s rainy again today, and it’s going to be problematic, there’s a lot of driving in my future.

Yay.

It already feels like a complicated day, which is not fair on a Friday. Not fair at all.

Oh well. So it goes.

Am I getting boring? I feel like I’m getting boring, me in my constant waterwheel, around and around. I should try to be more interesting.

Like that’s ever worked.

Beyond that, I’m gearing up for my mom’s big move from the long-term hospital to rehab. I’m hoping for great progress, but terrified of no progress.

Always on that knife’s edge.

Anyway, that’s it for me on this soggy Friday. Have a fantastic day and an exciting weekend and fun Halloween if that’s your plan.

#ThursdayThoughts ten word photo prompt: Halloween Edition

Standard
Photo by Katerina Holmes on Pexels.com

It’s #ThursdayTen time! Using the above image as a prompt, write a ten word story.

EXACTLY ten words.

It doesn’t have to be Halloween-themed, that’s up to you, but I couldn’t resist this picture for this week.

Ready?

Here’s mine:

Upside to sightseeing in the afterlife: museums admit ghosts free!

#WednesdayWisdom: Sometimes mock a troll.

Standard

I’ve mocked several trolls in the last 12 hours or so. Most of the time I block them and move on with my life, but maybe I’m ornery right now.

Got to get the frustration out somehow.

Thanks for getting in my way, people who deserve it.

Besides, they weren’t even MY trolls so I consider it a public service. It did kind of eat up my morning though.

Oh well.

Sometimes I am too slow-moving in the morning, despite my best intentions. I think the whole situation is really taking a toll, and maybe there’s a little avoidance as well.

Aunty Ida would say yes.

Aunty Ida would say a lot of things.

It’s a blazingly sunny day, the kind we’re supposed to have in Chicago’s October, though there’s not much October left to have it.

Typical.

And that’s me for this Wednesday. Have a marvelous day.

#TuesdayThoughts: I guess that’s normal?

Standard

If you’re looking for my Tuesday #MomUpdate, here you go. I took my time with it this morning, which means I can’t exactly take my time with this post.

Ugh.

Well, we do our best.

Speaking of, I had a tire situation yesterday, out far from home, which is where these things always seem to happen. But they said they were able to patch the tire, so no new tire required. Score.

Of course now I’m worried that the patch won’t hold and the tire won’t be safe but basically worrying is my entire thing right now so I guess that’s normal?

For me at least.

It was a gray day, but now it looks like a sunny day, and I’m not really sure the weather knows what it wants to be. It’s cool though, Fall cool, and those last dregs of summer are gone. The trees are changing.

And that’s going to be it for me today, though I’m feeling chatty. I have to get myself together, though. So have a great Tuesday, whatever your Tuesday may hold.

#MondayThoughts: Loopy

Standard

I’ve got a contact in my eye again. Yay, no glasses for me today. Progress.

It’s a super rainy day, the kind with lots of wind and blowing sheets of chilly water. I’m not looking forward to the drive to the suburbs.

Or the one home.

But I’m in that gotta do what you’ve gotta do loop.

It’s a very loopy loop.

And that’s really all I have for you today, as I get myself ready for the new routine. It’s wearing, but you already knew that.

Have a fantastic Monday and a wonderful start to your week.

#FridayThoughts: Water the horses.

Standard

So my mom is about to be moved again. I’m sure I’ll write more about it in the weekly post on Tuesday, but chronic illness is like a game of hot potato, but with vulnerable patients.

Fun times.

So we’re going to look at a place, but the really exciting part is it’s even further away than the current place.

To borrow from Douglas Adams, so-called “Chicagoland” is big.

Which means that I only have a few, few minutes with you before we go check this place out. Cross your fingers for us, there aren’t a lot of options around here without a skin-crawling element.

Outside of that, it’s gray again, we went back to rain yesterday. And chilly too. I have a new Fall jacket on the way, so that will be good, it’s definitely time for it.

And though I may only be wearing it in five minute bursts in and out of buildings, it definitely seems like it’s time.

Anyway, that’s it for me for this week. I hope you have a great Friday and a perfect weekend.

#ThursdayThoughts ten word photo prompt: Ethereal

Standard

It’s Thursday which means it’s time for a #ThursdayTen!

Using the above image as prompt, write a ten word story. EXACTLY ten words.

You know what you’re doing, it’s a Thursday tradition!

Ready?

Here’s mine:

Anwen brought her offering for the sprite. She wasn’t home.

#WednesdayWisdom: But at least I have cute flamingo socks.

Standard

Somehow it’s Wednesday again. How, I’m not sure. The days are very blurry lately.

It’s sunny today, like it’s supposed to be around here in October, but I think the chill has settled in. Which is to be expected.

I’m well into the sameness of days, so many piled on top of each other, I’m not sure how they disappear. Must be quicksand.

I kind of hope it’s not quicksand.

But at least I have cute flamingo socks.

I guess that’s what I have for you today. No matter what is going on, no matter how wearing, not matter how bright or dim, you can always bring something into your day to make you smile.

Always.

In my case, these socks.

It will be another day of unknowing and sitting and waiting and watching, but through it all, there will be flamingoes on my feet.

Have a great Wednesday.

#TuesdayThoughts: Rushed

Standard

By now you know on Tuesdays I do what I’m dubbing a #MomUpdate, or a longer post over at Medium detailing my mom’s recovery from her strokes and subsequent complications. You can read the newest one here. Maybe I’ll make a page with the posts too, but it will have to be later.

So, given the new schedule of visiting and the drive, it leaves me less time for us here, at least on Tuesdays.

Until I started doing the updates, I didn’t realize how much I linger over posts. I feel like this is our morning chat, a few minutes over coffee at the beginning of the day.

Well, the mid-morning of the day.

But now, by the time I’m done with the other post, I have to cram a lot in before missing the entire middle of the day.

My mom’s worth it though. I GUESS.

Just kidding. I may be a little punchy at this point.

I have something going on with my eye, I think I got some bathroom cleaner on the lid. I’m glad it was just the lid, but I’m strictly glasses right now, and you glasses wearers know it’s a challenge with the masks. I got a whole bunch of things that are supposed to help them not fog.

So far, not great, but I’ll keep trying.

That’s it for me today, I hope you have an amazing, lovely Tuesday.

#MondayThoughts: Makes sense

Standard

Well it’s definitely Fall, which, given it’s October 18, it has every right to be. I’m chilly.

Which makes sense.

It’s sunny though, and the trees are well into their quick-change routine. They’re always pretty and always different, every single year.

Which also makes sense.

My days have taken on a kind of sameness, as we watch and wait with my mom, watch and wait. It’s made me less interesting, I think, less rounded.

That too makes sense.

It hasn’t stopped me making up stories, even while sitting in the hospital, and maybe I will share it with you. I’ll figure out how to do that, I’m not getting a ton of writing time these days. Mostly it’s the drive, I think.

Anyway, I’m going to launch myself into the rest of this thing known as Monday. Have a fantastic Monday and a great start to your week.
