#WednesdayWisdom: When the government asks for their documents back…

Standard

Well the Department of Justice filed one heck of a memo just before midnight, and it detailed all the steps taken to retrieve documents from trump before the search of mar a lago. The government tried requests; it then tried a subpoena; trump’s lawyer swore that all the documents were returned.

But wouldn’t let the government look inside of the boxes in the storage room.

And now we know that wasn’t true, there were more seized, according to the memo, in a “few hours” by FBI agents than were returned. There is no scenario in which this is OK.

There is no good defense. Secret documents, according to the filing, were found in trump’s own desk. The FBI seized his personal belongings because they were comingled with the government’s documents.

And earlier this morning, Republicans treated the photo accompanying the filing as a joke, talking some framed Time magazine covers in a box next to the array of documents with “Top Secret” and “Classified” cover pages.

Now they want to blame Pres. Biden for trump’s actions. It’s enough to turn your stomach.

What we do know is the CIA lost a number of human assets last year. Did trump do that? Did he sell them out?

We may never know for sure.

So my nugget of wisdom for you today: when the government asks for its documents back, just hand them over.

You probably won’t be in this position but it’s always better to plan ahead.

And have a great Wednesday.

#TuesdayThoughts: Write it down.

Standard

First things first, here’s my #MomUpdate, “The things we don’t say aloud,” if you’d like to read it. And on to Tuesday.

It’s a mix of sunny and cloudy today, and it’s one of those days where I had a great idea for a blog post, but I didn’t write it down.

“I’ll remember,” I told myself.

Well.

I did not.

It’s funny how that happens, you get an idea and it seems so concrete, so clear that you’ll never forget it. Who needs to write it down? It’s in my brain forever!

And no matter how many times it happens to me, I still manage to lie to myself and believe I’ll remember it.

I won’t. I need to write it down.

Habits are hard, and so is overestimating ourselves. Like the faith that your memory is a a perfect idea trap.

My memory is not a perfect idea trap. But with any luck, I’ll remember in time for tomorrow.

Who knows.

Anyway, that’s it for me today, have a great Tuesday. And for goodness sake, if you have a fantastic idea, write it down.

#MondayThoughts: A world of mostly Mondays.

Standard

It’s sunny right now but we’re supposed to get storms, severe ones, according to the weather.

We’ll see.

It’s another Monday in a world of mostly Mondays, and though I had a great workout this morning, my energy is starting to dip. That’s probably another Monday thing.

Or they’re right about the weather.

The coffee isn’t getting all the way to my brain, not to the parts that matter. Which is a problem because I need those parts to write this post. Kind of your classic connundrum.

Well sort of.

What do I know, my coffee hasn’t kicked in.

My visions of a blazing fast Monday, with my to-dos checked off one by one by one are fading fast. Perhaps it’s a good day to pace myself.

Perhaps it’s a good day to pace yourself too.

Whatever you decide, have a great Monday.

#FridayThoughts: In case you think writing is easy.

Standard

And we’re at our last Friday in August, if you can believe it. I cannot believe it.

Disbelief is what I feel.

Sunny again, not too hot again, and I’ve been trying to get something together that’s been brewing for a while.

The problem is, as it stands right now, it’s not good.

In fact, I was just working on it, read it through and said, “this isn’t good.” How do I improve it?

Well, like my bread that collapsed yesterday, somethings cannot be improved, you have to throw them out and start again.

The thing about writing is when it’s good, it looks like no effort at all, like the words poured from somewhere in the ether on to the page, real or virtual, one after another in tidy little rows. Good writing should never reveal the heavy lifting.

And then you have the mess I’ve been working on. Well, when I get it, I promise I’ll let you know immediately.

Meanwhile, the trees are thinking about changing and it feels like Fall isn’t very far off at all. Time keeps on slipping, as the Steve Miller Band told us, into the future.

Speaking of, have a great Friday and a wonderful weekend.

It’s THURSDAY! And that means time for our #ThursdayTen!

Using the image above as a prompt, write a ten word story.

EXACTLY ten words.

Easy enough, right?

#WednesdayWisdom: Believe yourself.

Standard

And again it’s sunny and not to hot, a respectable 82 degrees. F, of course, not C. 82 degrees Celsius and I don’t think I’d be writing this blog.

That’s pretty hot.

Anyway, my reusable notebook continues to do its thing, and as I adjust to using it, I’m wasting a lot less paper. So that’s good. And if it’s something worth saving, I can do that.

It really is a whole new thing.

This morning I feel back asleep, apparently without realizing it, and so for my workout I did only restorative yoga. I still felt groggy, and full cardio sounded like too much.

So I believed myself and went with it.

And that’s what I have for you today. Believe yourself.

Not believe IN yourself though you can do that too if that’s for you. But believe yourself.

So often I find I’m trying to talk myself into or out of things and and ideas. Feeling low energy but telling myself I’m fine. Feeling full of energy but telling myself maybe I’m not as energetic as I feel.

Let’s not do that today.

Today, at least, when you tell yourself something, believe it. Trust yourself.

We spend so much energy fighting ourselves. Today, instead, listen and take what you need.

Have a great Wednesday.

#TuesdayThoughts: Erasable.

Standard

First things first, here is my #MomUpdate, “Among the things my mom planted.” And now Tuesday.

It’s another brightly sunny yet mild August day, which is weird for August but I’ll take it. Like yesterday, my workout was excellent and I’m feeling more energetic than I have in a while.

It must be shaking that virus I had last week.

A few months ago, I got a reusable planner/notebook. You can digitize your notes, though I have yet to do that, but the other day I wondered why I haven’t been using it. So I used it for my to dos.

At the end of the day, they all disappeared with a wipe of the dampened special cloth. I think I’m hooked.

Maybe I should put “digitizing notes” on my list for today. OK, done.

The cool thing about it is it doesn’t smudge when you write, and it erases completely. Definitely a way to not waste paper too, especially while doing all the word puzzles. Which is why I got it in the first place.

Anyway, here’s a link for it if you’re curious. Note, it’s an affiliate link, it was easier for me to grab. Should have done that when I was getting everyone to buy Ninja Creamis, I guess. I’d be rolling in dough as well as ice cream. What the heck, here’s one for the Ninja too while I’m at it.

I’m out of control. Must be all the oxygen to the brain with my workout.

Anyway, that’s it for me today. Have a wonderful Tuesday.

#MondayThoughts: You know who makes you feel that way?

Standard

It’s brightly sunny and the air show is over, so both of those things are good. I do not enjoy the noise.

I had one of those mornings where working out felt easy and invigorating. You’ve got to notice them because you don’t always get them. It would be great if I could bottle it for the days it’s a slog, but we have to take each day as it comes.

Perusing twitter, I see people trying to soften the meanings of things, trying to make them more palatable. As though the truth is impolite.

You know who makes you feel that way?

People who benefit from obscuring the truth.

The truth is not rude, it’s not out of line, especially when lives depend upon it. Brutality is brutality. Violence is violence.

And stealing government documents is criminal. Not returning them when requested, even more so.

Don’t let anyone pull apart reality with weasel words. We need to fight, and fight hard, for what is.

Because if we don’t, it will become what was.

Have a great Monday.

#FridayThoughts: So that’s fun.

Standard

I told you on Monday it would be Friday before we knew it and here we are. Of course time may have moved differently for you this week, and for my friends for whom it plodded its excruciating way, I’m sorry it took you so much longer to get here.

I’m tired, though probably from getting over whatever that bug was, and I may have been a little overenthusiastic in my workout this morning. It happens.

Anyway, I’m having one of those weeks that seem to be the only kind of weeks I’ve had for a year, up and down, up and down, uncertainty uncertainty uncertainity.

So that’s fun.

If you’re also having one of those weeks, then perhaps we can commiserate over a virtual coffee or lemonade or something with alcohol in it, whatever you want bc yours doesn’t have to be virtual.

And we can say goodbye to this week that put us over the cusp of August, goodbye to the supposed carefree hours of summer because apparently school is back in session.

Which seems fast to me, but what do I know.

That’s it for me this week, I hope you have a great Friday and a wonderful weekend.
