#WednesdayWisdom: Credit where credit is due IF…

Standard

Well my cold or whatever this is had ideas other than packing it in because today I’m back to feeling icky. Not overtly anything enough to complain loudly about, of course, but just that kind of low-grade tired you can’t really define.

Annoying, but at least almost certainly not COVID. I say “almost” because another test is brewing as we speak. They’re like a little at-home science experiment.

I put in the drops and watched the dye sweep across the test strip like a marching storm. So far it’s clear but I still have nearly 10 minutes to go.

The weather is mild, though, and I am locked in a battle of wills with this bug.

Seems like it might not be the best use of will but eh, why not.

Today I’m thinking about heroism being ascribed to actions of very, very basic decency, and how terrible the rest of Republicans are that something so obvious as “attempting to overthrow the government is bad” became a reason to excommunicate a member.

We are at the “trump over the Constitution” phase of Republican fascism. And you know who they’re touting as the “savior?”

DeSantis. DESANTIS.

Who…well…just google what’s going on in Florida. It’s not “moderate” by any stretch of the imagination.

So here we are, in a position of having to persuade people that fascism is bad and you don’t really want to live that way. And people want to laud someone who voted with the fascists about 93% of the time.

My belief is this: credit where credit is due IF CREDIT IS EARNED.

You’d think that would be implied by the “due” part but people want to give credit for the mere suggestion that someone might do the right thing.

I don’t mourn the loss of a Cheney in Congress. I support the Democrat running for that seat, Lynette Grey Bull. And if Cheney wants that credit, so should she.

After all, she asked Democrats to vote for her in the primary.

And with that, I bid you a good and circumspect Wednesday.

PS: COVID is again negative!

#TuesdayThoughts: Shift it back

Standard

First, here is my #MomUpdate, “Sometimes I do that.” And now Tuesday

It’s sunny, I don’t think it’s too hot. I feel like the seasons have drifted, and we already had steamy August in July.

I think my cold is on the mend, at least I have my voice back mostly. I was able to do a full workout this morning, and maybe that revved everything up.

Let’s hope so.

The news here is breaking with ferocity, it seems trump’s actions are starting to meet consequences. We can only hope it continues. As wild as it looks from outside the US, it’s even more bizarre here.

Imagine people trying to explain away espionage.

Against their own country.

Wild.

It’s almost comical to watch Republicans, desperate to distract, pretend they don’t know what words mean so they can change the subject and the trending topics.

Let’s not let them. Tell them you know why they’re doing it. Describe what they’re trying to turn our attention from. Shift it back.

And, beyond all else, have a great Tuesday.

#MondayThoughts: They get me anyway.

Standard

I have no voice. Somehow I picked up one of the many viruses out for vengeance since people (not me) stopped wearing masks. They get me anyway.

It’s not COVID, I tested. It’s just something else, thrilled once again to find a human host.

I’m polite, but this is ridiculous.

So this morning I decided on yoga intended to boost the immune system. I don’t know if it did that, but it absolutely helped my sinuses, so yay for that.

It’s one of those cloudy sunny days, I think, I can’t really be sure, and once again we find ourselves at Monday.

But don’t get too attached to it, before you know it, it will be Friday again. That seems to be the way time goes lately.

And speaking of, I’m going to head in a forward direction, of sorts at least. Have a great Monday and a fabulous start to your week.

#FridayThoughts: Nuclear

Standard

Well it turns out it’s Friday. And what a rollercoaster of a week.

The news has been intense, with information coming out last night that some of the documents trump took and refused to return contain nuclear secrets. That’s not very reassuring.

And this morning, Republicans went on TV to tell everyone it’s not a big deal.

Not. A. Big. Deal.

These people who scrutinized John Podesta’s recipes for signs of classified information think it’s fine for trump to take our government secrets by the truck full and then refuse to turn them over when they were subpoenaed.

And hide them for the first search back in June.

Personally I think the possible sale of nuclear information is a big deal and a bad thing, but we are living in a post-truth bizarro world.

Meanwhile it’s gray today, I don’t know if we’re supposed to get rain but my energy levels are fluctuating. I would like to write more on Medium which means I hope you’ll read more on Medium but I have to work out the details.

I don’t know if you’ve had the kind of week where taking care of one thing leads to problems with another, but I’m feeling more tired than I probably need to. I think part of it is the constant fighting to keep reality reality.

Anyway that’s it for me this week, I hope you have a great Friday and a wonderful weekend.

Could I help myself? No, my friends, I could not. It’s THURSDAY and time for a #ThursdayTen!

Using the image above as a prompt, write a ten word story.

EXACTLY ten words.

While this week’s image MIGHT have been inspired by current events, of course the creativity is up to you!

With the reminder that this space is my own and I am free to allow or not allow whatever I choose.

Ready? Here’s mine:

For us, it was only the beginning.

For him?

The end.

#WednesdayWisdom: Dance a little

Standard

It’s been a clunky kind of week. News-wise we’re getting some really great stuff, but personally people seem to be having a rough time. Me included, but that’s my normal these days.

But one thing, I’ve found, can break the bouts of gloom. Dancing bursts.

Even just one song. I’ve been doing dance workouts on youtube too, those really get me going in the morning when I feel slow.

I’m still doing daily yoga, now not always with a guided practice. Sometimes I do my own thing for however long strikes me. It does give me a few minutes to ground myself.

But in terms of renewed energy and getting a little movement in as well, dancing is the best bet.

And the thing is it doesn’t matter if you’re good at it or bad at it or feel ridiculous.

Who cares?

You can literally dance like no one’s watching because no one’s watching. Unless someone’s watching then this isn’t really applicable but you get the idea.

Anyway, that’s it for me today. I hope you dance through your Wednesday.

#TuesdayThoughts: Other half of velcro shoes.

Standard

First things first, my #MomUpdate, “I’m human Jenga.” And on to Tuesday.

Everything is frustrating, including the things that are supposed to be easy. I’m irritated and sleep-deprived and I want some things to work out.

Why does that seem like such a huge ask?

Sure, I’m absolutely tickled by the search of Mar-a-Lago, which is second only to my delight at trump’s dismay that the FBI opened his safe.

BUT.

My days lately have been made of velcro and I’m wearing that other half of velcro shoes.

At least I have the thought of bad people having a bad time to comfort me. That does help.

A little.

Meanwhile it’s wildly sunny and pretty cool, especially for August. Believe me, I’ll take it.

And that’s it for me this irksome Tuesday. I hope you have an irk-free day.

#MondayThoughts: Creaky

Standard

It’s gray and rainy today, with a constant fine drizzle. I didn’t sleep well last night, but sometimes that happens.

I’m tired today.

Yesterday had some drama over a package that still hasn’t been delivered, so Monday is off to a creaky start. Plus, it’s Monday.

So.

Monday.

I know what you’re thinking. You’re thinking “how is the coffee helping?” And my answer to that is a very halting…eh.

I had to take some Benadryl and I’ve got to say it’s not helping with the alertness. Proof to that: I originally left out the “not” in the previous sentence, which would have been wonderfully ironic if I didnt’ catch it.

That plus weather makes me think sleeping the day away wouldn’t be a bad thing.

Not going to do it.

But I’m tempted.

Anyway, that’s it for me on this slow-moving Monday. Have a lovely day.

#FridayThoughts: Fold-up boat.

Standard

My second iced coffee is right there, already made. I wasn’t taking any risks or pulling any caffeine punches today.

I can’t even say this morning because it’s already noon.

Someone is a tardy blogger. I won’t name any names.

It’s a brightly sunny day, not too hot, the kind of day that makes summer summer. The kind of day that makes me wish I had a boat.

Don’t know what I’d do with it the other many many many days that I am not wishing I had a boat, but today it seems like a leisurely trip out on Lake Michigan would be perfect. Breeze and sun and the water.

Ahhh.

I’ll have to settle for my iced coffee.

Maybe someday. But probably not, the thing with boats is you have to have somewhere to put them.

I don’t think they fold up for storage. And if they did, I’m not sure I’d want that boat.

Anyway, that’s it for me this week. Have a great Friday and a perfect summer (or winter!) weekend.

#ThursdayThoughts ten word photo prompt: Smash

Standard

It’s THURSDAY! And that means it’s time for a #ThursdayTen! Even though yesterday turned into a Wednesday ten sorta because no one saw last week’s post.

Until yesterday.

Thus the Wednesday…never mind, you get it.

ANYWAY, using the image above as a prompt, write a ten word story.

EXACTLY ten words.

Ready?

Here’s mine:
