#TuesdayThoughts: Thinky

Standard

First, this week’s #ChatTuesday, “The only way through is through.” And now Tuesday.

My ideas for new Tuesday themes have been underwhelming, at least to me, which is as far as they’ve gone because, well, underwhelming. Well, I’m sure I’ll get it eventually.

Possibly.

Maybe.

Maybe it doesn’t really matter and it’s just mental energy better spent elsewhere. Who knows.

Might as well ponder it more.

I’m proceeding onward with the yoga challenge, and it’s going. I’ll probably see it through but I’m not sure it’s hitting me in the way I really need. On the other hand, I’m feeling slightly more drawn to the mat, in terms of getting the day started.

I don’t know, yoga requires a lot of mental presence and that’s not where I am right now. Which is kind of funny when you think about it because how far can your mind go?

Very very very far, if you’re imaginative enough.

Anyway, that’s it for me this rainy Tuesday. Have a great day no matter your weather.

#MondayThoughts: Changeable.

Standard

I think it’s raining though I can’t actually be sure. It’s gray out, from top to bottom. If it’s not raining now, it’s only a matter of time.

It feels warm, though, for January. Our weather’s changing, gradually and all at once. Can’t say they didn’t tell us this would happen.

I don’t know where everyone’s gone on Twitter, I’m seeing fewer and fewer people I follow. I know some have left for other places or no social media at all but still I feel like many are still there, but we can’t see one another. Is it the system falling apart?

Is by design?

It’s incredible how the purchase of Twitter by a single egomaniacal, vengeful awkward perpetual teenager turned into a tantrum of ripping the wings off a bird. It probably had a deeper political goal, as it’s so hard to spin narratives when they are unspun in real time, but more sites are coming.

Since we already know we can, I suspect we always will.

Anyway, those are my thoughts on this Monday, as heavy as the clouds outside, on this day honoring Dr. Martin Luther King. We’d do well to remember his lesson that we the people hold the power for great change.

And with that, I wish you a good Monday.

#FridayThoughts: A dash.

Standard

First, #TVWatch, “Free Fitness Edition?!??!” And now Friday.

It’s gray today, and I think it may rain. Or snow. Not sure how cold it is. Hmm. 30. Definitely cold enough to snow, though I’m not seeing any in the forecast.

For some reason, this week felt very long. It wasn’t just my scare on Wednesday either (it’s in the Wednesday post) but the entire week. Maybe it’s me.

Maybe it’s the weather.

But I’m hoping to get some good rest this weekend. Along with new adventures with my Cricut. I made a decal to put on my headphones case, the case was so slippery and difficult to open, and it really did the trick. Plus now it’s pretty. Bonus.

I’m going to end up with decals on EVERYTHING.

I just know it.

Aside from that, not much to report on this end of the week, this Friday the 13th, apparently. It felt like I got a lot done, but in the scheme of things now, in retrospect, I’m less sure.

Hmm.

Anyway, that’s it for me this week, have an amazing Friday and a spectacular weekend.

#ThursdayThoughts: A bit of a breather

Standard

No writing prompt today, taking a little bit of a blog break, only for today. I hope you have a lovely, lovely Thursday, though.

Nothing to worry about, I just need to recharge my creativity!

#WednesdayWisdom: Go with the flow

Standard

My morning didn’t start out the way I expected. Normally, I talk to my dad at some point. This morning, I couldn’t reach him. I knew he had an appointment, I knew he’d be getting ready to leave, so he should have answered.

Usually he’ll call or text within a few minutes, but nothing. The panic, a whisp in my stomach grew and spread as the worry became a beast all its own.

I headed over.

Still on the way he didn’t answer. Finally I knocked at his door.

And he opened it, bewildered.

We discovered that somehow he’d managed to turn his phone on to Do Not Disturb. It was effective.

Even though he is tech savvy. Even though he knows how his phone works. He just didn’t notice.

But once I was there, I figured…why not go with the flow? I offered him a ride to his appointment, and I grabbed a coffee while I waited for him. I started this post but he was faster than I was.

We went to the grocery store, both picking up odds and ends. In what felt like a reward from the universe, they had fresh figs.

Fresh figs! One of my favorites.

This isn’t how I thought my day would look. My blog is late, everything is all turned around. But I went with it.

And it was good.

Anyway, that’s it for me for what’s left of this Wednesday. Have a great day.

#TuesdayThoughts: Specific realm.

Standard

First #ChatTuesday, “And that’s some truth.” And now Tuesday Tuesday.

I still haven’t figured out a different format of post for the blog on Tuesdays. Since Friday is TV, there’s no sameness, but there’s a bit of one with Tuesday. It’s not that I don’t have a lot of thoughts, but how many of them do you want to read?

My ego hopes you said all of them. Though wait that could be a little creepy.

There’s got to be a good balance somewhere.

Anyway, it’s another sunny day and I think it’s a little warmer than yesterday. But as I said, you can’t tell just by looking, the January sun in Chicago is a trickster who will break your heart and freeze your face.

Still the sun is nice, even if it’s cold.

My adventures with Cricut continue, I used it in at least three completely different ways yesterday, it’s as easy to use as a printer but it cuts. I mean what more could you want.

I’m sure a lot of things but I mean in this specific realm.

Anyway, that’s it for me today. Have a marvelous Tuesday.

#MondayThoughts: Messing up crafts with Isa

Standard

It’s wildly sunny today, and if this wasn’t Chicago in January I’d be tempted to believe it’s warm and springlike. But it is Chicago in January, and a very toasty 38 degrees. That’s F, not C and to save you the google, C friends, that’s 3.3 degrees C. Which isn’t terrible, but it’s certainly not the high 50s, low 60s it looks like.

I told you that January sun is a trickter.

It was a bit of a busy weekend, I got a Cricut machine as a gift and I’m learning how to use its incredible range of functions. One of the best things about getting into something like this so late in the game is no matter the question, someone has the answer.

Yesterday, I was eyeing my collection of yoga mats accumulated over the years, and they just didn’t fit in the box I’d made for them. Meanwhile I had a huge box from Amazon I hadn’t taken out yet. I went through the craft supplies I had on hand, realized I had a lot of removable wallpaper left from another project and set to math.

That’s right. I mathed. I measured the box, got the square inches, and then measured the length of the paper I had and it was enough with a bit of overage.

It did not go smoothly, the project or the paper, as it wasn’t the heaviest weight, but by the time I got around to the front, I had a method.

Then I used the machine to cut a vinyl silhouette of a woman in tree pose for the heck of it, and project done with only what I already had availalble.

It was no craft video, with everything working perfectly the first time, as though wrinkles and air bubbles had never been invented.

But I’m pleased.

Perhaps more so because of the lack of perfection.

Anyway, that’s it for me, have a great Monday and be creative, even if it doesn’t work as well as you’d hoped.

#FridayThoughts: A sprinkling.

Standard

So first, #TVWatch, “Korean sampler with one of my faves!” And now on to Friday.

Yet another gray day, and I think it’s supposed to snow. Or it did snow, but only a very little, I’m not entirely sure.

Which is ironic given one of the shows in this week’s TV Watch is about weather. But I guess that’s how it goes.

We’ve reached the end of the very first week of 2023, and I am not sure what terms the year and I are on yet. I guess I’ll see as it progresses, I don’t want to try to look to far into the future. The future can be a very scary place.

But regardless, the calendar marches on, day by day, stalwart.

We’ve been watching the ridiculousness of Republicans hemming and hawing and not electing a Speaker of the House, and part of me wonders if this is all pure ego or if they’re up to something.

Are they organized enough to be up to something?

Who knows.

Meanwhile the country must stand by as they waste our time and lower the standards of our Congress. Oh joy.

Anyway that’s enough of that, and now I wish you a happy Friday and a wonderful, wonderful weekend.

#ThursdayThoughts #ThursdayTen photo prompt: Snapshot

Standard

It’s AI collaborative art again, because as you know, I’m fascinated by it. And why not start off the new year with a little computer-generated ridiculousness?

Using the image above as a prompt, write a ten word story.

EXACTLY ten words.

Hopefully this one will get the ideas flowing. I had a hard time choosing among the results this week!

Anyway, ready?

Here’s mine:

Ghsksto couldn’t resist photobombing Xyowatoinwk showing off her new magnosled.

#WednesdayWisdom: But it’s still forward.

Standard

It’s raining today, even though it’s January, and I guess that will do for now. I’m late getting to the blog, other things seemed to jump the line and demand my earlier attention.

Some days are like that.

I’ve been doing the Yoga with Adriene Center challenge, which is 30 days of yoga based on the theme, a tradition she does every January. I could use some centering.

We’ll see if it helps.

Today I feel slow and unwieldy for some reason, like I’m taking plodding, heavy steps forward. Clumsy, but it’s still forward.

Is it in the direction I want to head? Well time will let me know. Time always lets us know.

Not necessarily promptly, which is its own set of issues, but still, we find out.

So that’s what I have for you today. We don’t have to be graceful, we don’t have to be swift, we don’t have to be adroit, we don’t have to be the best.

We just have to be.

Have a great Wednesday.
