I have flitting summer brain right now, as we move into August and Fall lurks just around the corner. It’s been a quick summer but they always seem that way, don’t they?

The dog days. Why they’re called that, I don’t know, but that they are.

Of course I had to look it up. It has to do with the constellation Sirius and not at all with heat, which I’d assumed.

I like the lazy dog version better.

Not going to linger today, not much to report writing-wise, only bits and bobbles, and the fitness was five days, five workouts.

How was your week?

It’s Friday and it’s a brand-new month. How about that.

I guess that happens about twelve times a year. Roughly.

Not going to linger today, it’s been a longish week but not awful productivity-wise. I made progress on the manuscript, the ending is crescendoing and the last of it in sight. So that’s not terrible.

I did find myself wanting to work on something else, but I figure I can finish this book and then while it simmers I’ll move on.

And workouts were five days, five workouts. They were really good ones this week, and one of my favorite trainers who hasn’t been around much lately had the workout today.

So not bad. Better than some weeks, worse, probably, than others, but forward.

How was your week?

And now we’re nearly through July. Not sure how it keeps flying like this, but it sure does.

It wasn’t a terribly productive week, as I was caught up in the world and other stuff, so the writing is nothing really to report. It was an odd week; there was the pre-Mueller testimony, the testimony and the post-Mueller testimony.

And there was some personal stuff as well, to layer on to the political madness.

As happens in 2019.

Fitness was great though, five days, five workouts.

That’s it for me. How was your week?

Quick one today! I have to leave in a minute, so no time to linger. Straight to the nitty-gritty.

Writing was OK this week, a little bit of progress made, end is in sight, I just have to get there. And sometimes it’s hard to get there.

I blame my protagonist. She is not wanting a dose of truth. But she’s going to get one.

Fitness was good, five days, five workouts, I enjoyed some, slogged through others, but got it done.

So that’s me. How was your week?

I’m being serenaded by an orchestra of hammers today. It’s not as sweet a sound as you might imagine.

But the news of the day isn’t why you’re here. You’re here for the update of the week. Ah yes. The update.

Update.

Writing has not been great, though I have several projects that are very happily playing in the corners of my mind. Why aren’t they playing in the corners of my keyboard?

I dunno. Ask them. They can be stubborn things.

I’ve taken to it being summer, real summer, and this week I went to the Art Institute for the Manet exhibit, which focused on the latter part of his career. And I realized something.

Manet doesn’t stir me quite like his contemporaries. If you look at the faces of the women he painted, they’re all the same; blank, empty, soulless.

Like he didn’t see the women as any different from the flowers or the fruit. Objects to be posed for a still-life.

Compare that to Renoir, where every person and every moment in time is crystallized.

And again I digress.

Fitness was another stellar week, though, five days, five workouts. Daily Burn rocked it, and I rocked Daily Burn.

Got some house-related things done, so it wasn’t a total waste. How was your week?

I’m taking a bit of a break today, but feel free to tell me about your week!

How did it go?

And that’s June. Isn’t it bizarre? We’re here already. It’s tough to believe, June already gone.

It’s raining again, in a kind of a resigned, slightly dismal way, with streaks on the windows and a quiet gray hanging in the air. Not a joyful Friday, weather-wise at least.

On to the nitty-gritty, the #AccountaClub part where we talk how we’re doing with our ongoing goals.

Writing was…tepid. I’m not going to lie to you. I find that the louder the political drums beat, the harder it is for me to detach and focus on imaginary worlds. Probably because I feel like I should be doing something more concrete to try to stem this muddy tide.

Fitness, though, went really well, five days, five workouts, and I’ve just marked off the last one of June. It’s helping tremendously, I think, sticking to this fitness program. In case you’ve missed it, I like Daily Burn, a streaming channel that has live workouts five days a week, all new, plus programs and a whole library of past workouts. The variety is fantastic for me.

And that was my week. How was yours?

Somehow we’ve come around again to Friday. It was another slow week and fast week and I have no idea how time does it.

It’s weird.

Writing-wise I’m coming into the home stretch with this manuscript, it’s at an emotionally sticky part and my character doesn’t want to go through it so neither do I, but there is only one way.

Her epiphany is looming.

On the exercise front, this week was pretty smooth with the workouts. Five days, five live ones, and they were all solid, all enjoyable in their own way. Today was yoga and it was a fabulous way to end the week. The newest trainer led a workout on Thursday and I liked him; I really wasn’t sure that I would.

And that was my week. How was yours?

I guess we’re sticking to weekly? Habits are habits, it seems.

It’s felt like a longer week than it was, but that tends to happen in this brave new timeline. So much information constantly coming at us makes everything feel like it’s elongated.

Yet here we are.

So on to the task at hand, the week. If you were following along this week, you know already that I had a huge breakthrough with a book that’s been sitting. I’ve made progress in it, and it’s careening toward a conclusion, which is a nice feeling. Especially when something has stalled for so long.

When it comes to fitness, five days, five workouts, though Monday had a bit of a problem as the service wasn’t working properly. I substituted a really fun dance workout that was in the site library, and onward we went.

That’s my week. How was yours?
