Don’t mean to shock you, but it’s gray again today. Heavy clouds and maybe rain and not nearly July at all.
So difficult to believe this year is half-through, but the calendar proves it. Slow-moving disasters sure fly by in retrospect.
It’s quiet, though, not much traffic, and what I hear is hushed, like the cars are also waiting for the rain.
It’s a good day for writing.
I got out this weekend, Saturday was beautiful, and went to the Chicago Botanic Garden. For some reason I looked at it like a person visiting from somewhere else, and took in how sweeping the gardens are, how vast, how varied. What a gorgeous place.
The break was good. I haven’t looked at my photos yet, though. I should probably do that. I don’t think I got anything spectacular, but we’ll see.
So a’Mondaying we shall go. Hope you have a wonderful one.
It’s pretty chilly for June. Last year, we were steaming away with incredibly high temps, and this year, it’s feeling like April.
I’ll take the cooler temperatures but I’m not sure everyone would agree.
Yesterday’s can-do optimism has given way to something else, something waterlogged with the news that just keeps going, with one ridiculous thing after another.
Exhausting stories of endless entitlement and unearned privilege, of shocked horror at consequences for actions, of people who should stay quiet asserting they have the right to be front and center.
You have to wonder if this is all deliberate, stuck as we are in the minds of writers. I feel like it’s shifted to Bradbury at this point.
Maybe more coffee would help. I’ll think about that.
Regardless, off I go into the great expanse that is Tuesday. Have a fabulous day.
Sometimes I wonder if we’re a little unfair to Monday. I mean, there it is, just doing its Monday thing, getting the week going after a weekend of inertia.
It’s got to be a rough gig.
No one ever says “Thank goodness it’s Monday!” It doesn’t have restaurants named after it, there are no Twitter trends with “yay” right in the name.
“Monyay” doesn’t have the same ring.
But Mondays do bring with them a unique gift: a new start, each and every week. Even if the official start of the week is Sunday.
See how a day could get grumpy?
Let’s try to embrace the Mondayness of it all, and make it a real sleeve-roller-upper.
Have a great Monday.
Well behind us. Thank all that’s thankable for that.
The day did not improve, as the Roomba immediately wedged itself again, and then another string of annoyances. But yesterday was yesterday, today today, and never the twain shall meet.
And here we are.
It’s another stunningly beautiful day, and so far things seem to be somewhat less out to get me. Nothing’s jumped out of the fridge at me, so I’d call that a bonus.
Otherwise, not much to report today, I’m feeling languidly reflective, despite my coffee. Perhaps there should be more in my future.
And with that, I launch myself into Tuesday. Have a great day.
Monday really came at me this morning. First I couldn’t get my workout to stream, then I discovered a tub of guacamole had fallen out of the fridge…last night.
Then a jar of spaghetti sauce decided it couldn’t live without the guacamole, and IT took a dive. There was glass.
I knew I didn’t feel like getting out of bed this morning.
My Roomba apparently feels the same way, it seems pretty dedicated to staying under the couch.
Now that’s a full-on Monday. I’m hoping we can reach a truce.
Overall it was a relaxing, quiet weekend, so I guess it’s only fair? It probably isn’t, but I’m working on that truce thing. See?
And right on cue, the Roomba distress signal. It’s wedged under the farthest reaches of the sofa. I’m going in.
If I’m not back by tomorrow, send in a team.
Have as good a Monday as is humanly possible.
And here comes the thunder. It was already dark and gray and raining, and I just saw a flash of lightning.
The thunder followed, as it does.
And I just got distracted, watching the rain. Today’s rain I see as cleansing, as a harbinger of change, washing away the debris of before, giving chance for everything to begin afresh.
Maybe that’s only my mindset. Who knows.
But I like the sound of it, the hush it brings, the way it mutes the tires of the cars. There is no rush today, there is no beating the rain, the rain is here and by the looks of it, it plans to stay.
It’s a good day for being indoors, a day where outside holds no special call. A day for Getting Things Done.
I hope you have a lovely Tuesday.
My workout was so much fun while I was doing it, it was Becca, one of my favorite trainers at Daily Burn, following Boogie (nickname) yesterday, a newer trainer and another favorite. But my muscles are currently rebelling.
Should be an interesting day.
And good luck to me tomorrow.
I’m a fan of the sneaky workout though, it’s tough but doable at the time, but afterward you kind of feel like you’ve been through the washing machine. Typing feels strenuous.
Yesterday we had so much rain, it fell in sheets, and then, when it was over, everything looked so fresh. But it’s rain again today.
So it goes.
I am off to solve the world’s problems. Have a great Tuesday.
