I had the strangest urge to write “1998” as the year. That’s a whole drinking age ago, as horrifying a thought as that is.

Why 1998 of all years?

I do not know.

Time glitches aside, it’s Friday! Let’s talk about our weeks.

I’m starting with fitness today. Five workouts this week despite a possible career-ending injury last night: my remote slid off of the couch and dive-bombed the bony part of my ankle. Now, you might think, come on, that didn’t hurt that much and I say to you, OH MY GOODNESS THE PAIN WAS RIDICULOUS.

Utterly ridiculous.

It’s still a bit bruised, but I made it through the workout and now I will rest for two days.

This week on Daily Burn, we set benchmarks of our fitness, testing how many of various exercises we could do in a minute. Push-ups, sit-ups, squats, BURPEES, and alternating lunges. We recorded the number of reps and will repeat in a few months apparently. It’s a great way to track progress.

Writing-wise, my new writing spot is really, really working for me. It’s comfortable, it inspires me, and I got a first draft of something in a new medium done this week.

Time to go back to the books.

So that was my week, overall pretty productive. How about yours?

Can you believe it’s February? I can’t. At all. I would have sworn it was June five minutes ago.

Except for the ultra-frigid temperatures, of course.

Here we are, back at Friday again, and it’s been a week. My chair arrived yesterday, and I put it together with maybe a tiny bit of difficulty. And by a tiny bit, I mean I only cursed the stars for about an hour.

But it’s pretty and it’s comfy and my writing spot is very nearly complete. Small details for ease of use, including possibly a new keyboard. But the lamp has made a huge difference. It’s very cozy, it’s bright, and I like it.

And I’ve been writing. While I haven’t gotten back to the novels quite yet, I’ve been working on some other formats, and it’s been really good. It’s easier to focus in my little space; it’s almost like making an office out of nothing.

As for the exercise, five days, and I have just closed out January with a full slate of workouts. Five days a week, all month. Here’s hoping February will be the same.

So that’s me. How was your week?

It’s that time of the week! #AccountaClub time, when we talk about how our goals are going. And since we’re at the beginning of a brand-spanking new year, everyone was flawless, right?

Right?

Yeah, me either.

I’m learning that I absolutely have to inoculate myself to mood when writing. Easier said than done, no?

It almost feels as though all of writing is mood. So ignoring that is pretty complicated. I probably need to go back to some regular yoga, but adding that in with my new fitness routine is complicated.

Speaking of fitness, I got my five workouts in, but it was a struggle. Partially because of me, and partially because of technical issues during the live broadcast. With Thursday’s I just picked another workout; today I waited until the live broadcast ended. Not perfect, but done.

So that was my week, AccountAbles. How about yours?

#WednesdayWisdom gauge low

Standard

Let me start today by saying I had trouble spelling “Wednesday,” so if you had high expectations for today’s post, you should probably dial them back to avoid disappointment.

Hmm.

I got some sleep last night, which is better than the night before, and I woke early this morning to discover I’d left the lights on and the TV entertaining itself. Still groggy, though, but I don’t want to risk more coffee after having so much trouble sleeping on Monday night.

I do learn my lessons, in case you’re wondering.

So it feels like a trudging sort of day, with a sky full of bumpy clouds casting flat light on everything. Outside looks groggy too.

Some days we trudge, some days we soar, some days we fly a little awkwardly like a goose, who still get where they’re going anyway.

I’m hoping for a goose day, but I’m not holding my breath.

If anything, this is showing me I need to be as regimented with my sleep as I am about exercise. It’s as important. Maybe I should work on that, and add it to my #AcccountaClub reports.

So that’s my Wednesday, short on wisdom as promised. And I misspelled Wednesday again.

Sheesh.

Hope you have a fantastic Wednesday.

It’s the final AccountaClub for the year! Kicked off in June after #MAYkingItWork, AccountaClub has aided us, together, as we trudge through the year, week by week.

How about it.

Hard to believe this year is winding down, now in its final few days. Time flies and time stands still, often both at the same time.

I’ve had writing goals not yet met this year. Focus, given all that is happening in the world, has proven very, very challenging. Next year may have some of the same goals, and some new goals, and possibly new techniques.

We shall see.

This week I learned how to make gifs, and I have to tell you, it’s a favorite new skill. Which I should probably demonstrate.

Here’s Katherine Hepburn making coffee because of course.

Trust me, it was relevant at the time.

I’ve maintained my new organization systems, and I’ve got to tell you, I find it very gratifying. Getting there was extremely challenging, but it was worth it because maintenance is so much easier.

As for the exercise, five workouts this week, but not at the live time. They also didn’t have “live” workouts this week, with the holiday, and even had a couple of repeats that were new to me and so much fun I didn’t care. So I gave myself a break with the time.

The Daily Burn site has been a little glitchy when streaming the workout when they load it. Hopefully, they’ll get that worked out. If you’re looking for a new workout routine in the new year, I can’t recommend Daily Burn enough, there’s just no boredom possible, and it’s a fun, efficient 30 minutes of exercise.

And so that’s it for 2018! How was your week? How do you feel about your year?

Just noticed that, at least for the month and date, we have a palindrome. Cool. The things you learn by typing.

So it’s another Friday somehow. Wild week, it lasted about a month and yet suddenly it’s over.

Maybe, besides all the chilling world-stuff, it felt longer because I had such weird dreams every night. Very vivid, very tiring.

While sleeping. Seems unfair.

But that’s not what we’re here for, now is it?

I’ve really been enjoying my organization of a couple of weeks ago, along with my new Roombie, so I highly recommend it if you’ve been thinking about that closet or cabinet that always irks you. I still have spots to go through, mostly now because I’m loving my new systems. Yay.

Writing-wise, I’ve made a tiny bit of progress in my erstwhile NaNoWriMo manuscript, I’m hoping to dig further into it today. My organization has led me to rethinking my furniture, and how and where I write. So I’ll be musing on that.

And exercise-wise, 5 days, 5 live workouts! They had some technical difficulties, the picture was out of focus for a few days this week, but at least the workouts were there when they were supposed to be. So it was a good week fitness-wise. Though today I was expecting and looking forward to something yoga-y, and it definitely was not.

So, how was your week?

Hard to believe another week is gone. We started #AccountaClub in June, six months ago, and here we are, nearly at the end of the year.

Wow.

As for this week, my organizational frenzy is pretty much at its end, and I am LOVING the results. Loving them. I’m hoping I can keep them up. The key element, though, I think is the Roomba. Which has to be returned tomorrow.

Sigh.

I’m not thrilled about that. I really need one of my own.

But on the plus side, it has shown me that, much like the way keeping the dishwasher ready for dishes can make keeping the kitchen clean easier, keeping the floors clear so the Roomba can do its thing really tends to cut down on clutter. It’s a bottom up effect.

No serious writing this week, I was straightening out Real Life Stuff like health insurance and other such things you don’t want to have to deal with. While it hasn’t been a creative chunk of time, it has been a productive one. I even got a maintenance task I’ve been meaning to do for ages done, and made a plan for another one.

Exercise-wise, five days, five live workouts. Or “live” workouts, I’m not sure if this week’s were taped ahead of time, the host of my exercise program is still out of town.

So that was my week! How was yours?

#AccountaClub time, and it’s been another doozy of a week. Apparently that’s the only size weeks come in these days, doozies.

Terrible, disappointing, grating doozies.

Would I like things to be different? Of course.

Is it within our power to change them? Well, we’re trying our darnedest, but the weight is very, very, very heavy. Crushing, in fact. Still we’re shoving at it as best as we can. So doozies they remain for the foreseeable future.

Minus side: writing and editing were again put aside for advocacy. But I think advocacy matters right now, so I’m counting it.

Plus side: awesome workout week. Live workouts every morning, and I have to say Daily Burn knocked it out of the park with the variety. Every day was so different and every day was a new challenge. That was great.

Talk to me, my fellow AccountAbles. How was your week?

accountaclub-woodBoy, am I late today with the #AccoutaClub post, AccountAbles! I swear my reasons are good. I’ve been following the news, and today might prove historic in two different directions. It’s tough to look away from historic.

Which could sum up most of my Getting It Done issues.

So it’s going to be a quick one today, I have much gawking to do.

Editing is getting onto an even keel, I think. Could I have done more? Always. But is the manuscript getting better? I hope so, I guess I’ll find out the next time though. I’m solving some puzzles I have with the story, so I think that’s always a plus.

Workout wise, very solid week. I did the live Daily Burn workouts every morning, though not through any particular effort. My body just woke me up even when I didn’t want to be awake. Too bad, it said, you’re up, might as well do it.

And so I did. I definitely struggled with some of the classes this week, I don’t feel that I crushed it, but I did do it, so there we go.

How about you?

Monday comes around again.

Having a little bit of chocolate with my Monday morning coffee. Because why not? For all we know, some unseen asteroid may be hurtling toward us at this very moment, or a certain orange despot wannabe might try to change the conversation in a big big big way, and that square of chocolate could remain uneaten.

No one wants that.

Basically, I’m eating it for the universe. And because chocolate and coffee are the BFFs that put all other BFFs to shame.

Take that, Monday.

I’m still wearing my workout leggings because they have flowers and stars and they’re ridiculous and I love them, and why not? I haven’t quite settled into the day, though the morning is nearly over, so let’s not even get started on the week.

I think I’ve finally shaken a very persistent migraine, though, so I score that as win.

And here we are.

Still sticking with Daily Burn, which I love. I’ve started doing the live workouts, and it’s a fantastic way to begin the day, an accomplishment right out of the box. This week, they’re talking about setting goals.

Ah goals.

So my goal today is to do some editing. Some messy, tedious, exasperating editing. If I could handle this morning’s workout, 30 minutes alone in a dark alley with my manuscript should be a breeze.

Happy Monday! Have a goal you want to share? Please feel free!
