#WednesdayWisdom: Nearly there

Standard

I completely forgot about this post today, as wrapped up as I am in the Georgia Senate race and the attempted coup happening right now in Washington. And as I typed out that sentence, I realized the distraction is justified.

We are a mere two weeks away from the end of trump, and just about that to a new Senate, one where Mitch McConnell is the minority leader. Right now he’s hoping he’ll be remembered for opposing the assault on democracy he enabled for four years, but whatever gets this over and done.

Today will absolutely be dramatic, but the only thing that will save trump now is successfully overthrowing the government, and if we know anything about him by now, his best skill is failure. So we need only hang tight, stay safe and watch the nazis get hauled away by cops.

Anyway, that’s it for today, I’m just pleased I could pull together entire sentences. Have a great Wednesday knowing this is nearly over.

#MondayThoughts: New Year, New…something

Standard

Here we are, freshly in 2021, on our way to something better, or so we hope. It’s been a rough haul, no question.

Tomorrow is the special election in Georgia, and just how much we can recover depends so much upon it. Mitch McConnell has already made clear he will hold us hostage, crippling the economy under soon President Biden if he has the power to do so.

I really hope Georgia refuses to give him that power.

McConnell believes that he can force Americans to blame Democrats for his actions, and it’s not outlandish, he’s gotten away with it for so long. He needs to go, and he can’t keep this hold over the Senate.

And once he’s gone, we need to ensure no one ever abuses power like this again.

These thoughts are not the thoughts I thought I’d have this morning but so it goes. If you’re in Georgia, please vote for Jon Ossoff and Rev. Rafael Warnock. Let’s make this country America again.

And have a great Monday.
