It’s Friday! That means it’s #AccountaClub time! And this week, I have writing news.
I have finally, finally finished the first draft of the manuscript I’ve been working on since about the time of the dinosaurs.
Well, maybe not quite that long.
But a long time, nonetheless. Can I get a woo-hoo?
So yes, editing lies ahead, but it’s been a long time since I finished a novel draft. Good week in that respect.
Fitness, five days, five workouts, though this week was quite a drag. We were doing benchmarks, where we test our progress over the year, and I improved my numbers so I guess that’s a win. Still I’m happy to have a rest day tomorrow.
It’s the final AccountaClub for the year! Kicked off in June after #MAYkingItWork, AccountaClub has aided us, together, as we trudge through the year, week by week.
How about it.
Hard to believe this year is winding down, now in its final few days. Time flies and time stands still, often both at the same time.
I’ve had writing goals not yet met this year. Focus, given all that is happening in the world, has proven very, very challenging. Next year may have some of the same goals, and some new goals, and possibly new techniques.
We shall see.
This week I learned how to make gifs, and I have to tell you, it’s a favorite new skill. Which I should probably demonstrate.
Here’s Katherine Hepburn making coffee because of course.
Trust me, it was relevant at the time.
I’ve maintained my new organization systems, and I’ve got to tell you, I find it very gratifying. Getting there was extremely challenging, but it was worth it because maintenance is so much easier.
As for the exercise, five workouts this week, but not at the live time. They also didn’t have “live” workouts this week, with the holiday, and even had a couple of repeats that were new to me and so much fun I didn’t care. So I gave myself a break with the time.
The Daily Burn site has been a little glitchy when streaming the workout when they load it. Hopefully, they’ll get that worked out. If you’re looking for a new workout routine in the new year, I can’t recommend Daily Burn enough, there’s just no boredom possible, and it’s a fun, efficient 30 minutes of exercise.
And so that’s it for 2018! How was your week? How do you feel about your year?
Just noticed that, at least for the month and date, we have a palindrome. Cool. The things you learn by typing.
So it’s another Friday somehow. Wild week, it lasted about a month and yet suddenly it’s over.
Maybe, besides all the chilling world-stuff, it felt longer because I had such weird dreams every night. Very vivid, very tiring.
While sleeping. Seems unfair.
But that’s not what we’re here for, now is it?
I’ve really been enjoying my organization of a couple of weeks ago, along with my new Roombie, so I highly recommend it if you’ve been thinking about that closet or cabinet that always irks you. I still have spots to go through, mostly now because I’m loving my new systems. Yay.
Writing-wise, I’ve made a tiny bit of progress in my erstwhile NaNoWriMo manuscript, I’m hoping to dig further into it today. My organization has led me to rethinking my furniture, and how and where I write. So I’ll be musing on that.
And exercise-wise, 5 days, 5 live workouts! They had some technical difficulties, the picture was out of focus for a few days this week, but at least the workouts were there when they were supposed to be. So it was a good week fitness-wise. Though today I was expecting and looking forward to something yoga-y, and it definitely was not.
Still reeling from my workout, it was something else this morning. Good, but tough.
Fine.
This week is about buckling down, and that was a heck of a way to start it. Not over at Daily Burn; no, there, the week is about self-care. But aren’t they kind of the same thing?
Here’s a reality. I want to do NaNoWriMo. I know what I want to write for NaNoWriMo. But to get to that, I have to finish a manuscript that hasn’t gone anywhere in a while.
The thing about writing is you just have to do it. There’s no other way for the story to get from inside your head to a page, virtual or otherwise. At least not yet.
Though Aunty Ida would probably have a method, if she weren’t fictional.
Probably fictional.
There may be a universe out there with an Aunty Ida. How terrifying is that thought?
But I digress.
So we’ll so how this week goes, right? I mean it’s easy to say big things on a Monday while still in the aura after a killer workout. The proof is in the #AccountaClub.
Time to put my typing fingers where my mouth is. But only figuratively because that sounds gross and kind of unsanitary.
See this tiger? It has eyes. EYES OF THE TIGER. Work with me here, people. Photo by Flickr on Pexels.com
Having a little bit of chocolate with my Monday morning coffee. Because why not? For all we know, some unseen asteroid may be hurtling toward us at this very moment, or a certain orange despot wannabe might try to change the conversation in a big big big way, and that square of chocolate could remain uneaten.
No one wants that.
Basically, I’m eating it for the universe. And because chocolate and coffee are the BFFs that put all other BFFs to shame.
Take that, Monday.
I’m still wearing my workout leggings because they have flowers and stars and they’re ridiculous and I love them, and why not? I haven’t quite settled into the day, though the morning is nearly over, so let’s not even get started on the week.
I think I’ve finally shaken a very persistent migraine, though, so I score that as win.
And here we are.
Still sticking with Daily Burn, which I love. I’ve started doing the live workouts, and it’s a fantastic way to begin the day, an accomplishment right out of the box. This week, they’re talking about setting goals.
Ah goals.
So my goal today is to do some editing. Some messy, tedious, exasperating editing. If I could handle this morning’s workout, 30 minutes alone in a dark alley with my manuscript should be a breeze.
Happy Monday! Have a goal you want to share? Please feel free!
