#WednesdayWisdom: Shrug and move on

Standard

You may have noticed I didn’t do a Mom Update yesterday. Here it is, and it inspired today’s blog post.

Talk about your bang for your proverbial buck, proverbial as it’s not like I’m charging admission here.

I simply forgot to do it yesterday. Completely forgot.

And in calmer times I might have agonized. I might have dropped everything else to get it up and published in a rush.

But I didn’t. I figured I could just do it today. There are no rules requiring it to go up on Tuesday. No laws. No deadlines beyond the self-imposed.

Sometimes you’re going to drop a ball. Sometimes you may drop an entire gym locker of them. But as long as no one gets hurt, most of the time, you can find that ball where it rolled under the couch and get right back to it.

Shrug and move on. The world probably will.

And with that, I’ll call it a post. Have a great Wednesday.

#TuesdayThoughts: I’ll never know

Standard

As it’s Tuesday, here’s my Mom Update. Not visiting makes it harder.

I think it’s gray today, though my weather app claims not a cloud in the sky so I’m not sure who to believe.

Nope, wait, it’s changed its tune, as they’re apt to do.

APPt to do?

You know we’re in trouble if I’m punning already.

We’re in a weird quasi-state which isn’t locked down but not everything is open, either. It makes me think of this time last year, before we had the vaccine, and that year’s Thanksgiving and Christmas and New Year’s surges.

How people still don’t have the hang of this, I’ll never know.

I particularly enjoy the complaints about measures from people who have never actually undertaken them. That feels very authentic.

Anyway, here we are, cruising through the first week in January, another new year carrying the burden of last year’s problems. It’s a lot of responsibility for a baby of a new year.

And with that, I’m off. Have a great Tuesday.

#TuesdayThoughts: Aren’t we all.

Standard

First things first. Given it’s Tuesday, here’s the latest Mom Update. I’m a little under the weather, so I can’t promise brilliance today.

Honestly I’m not sure I can promise brilliance any day.

But still we try, don’t we? I guess?

Anyway, I’ve taken to getting silicone covers for my keyboard. They wear out, fading around the A and the E and the S and the I and the Enter and the Shift, rendering them illegible, and then they’re all difficult to read and then the smallest of holes in the middle, and then it’s like a touch-typing exercise.

Good luck to me.

Sometimes the covers are clear, but I’ve found as they wear they also render the keys anonymous somehow. Besides, I like to add color.

It’s fun and impermanent.

Given I am prone to beverages and snacks while typing, it’s really the best for all involved and by all involved I mean my computer. I hear they don’t like crumbs.

I recommend them if you can find them for your keyboard, they’re model-specific. Yes, they are ephemeral, but aren’t we all.

Have a great Tuesday.
