#TuesdayThoughts: Come on, us!

Standard

It’s cloudy-sunny or sunny-cloudy I don’t really know and it doesn’t seem to either. As you may or may not know from yesterday, I’m trying to keep things light around here this week.

We’ll see how that goes.

Funny inspiration is a little thin on the ground at the moment. Kind of like the sort of fog that’s happening out there. Or haze. Eh, we’re all in one these days.

Especially me right now. I’m definitely trying too hard.

Such a weird thing, trying too hard. You think if you give it a minute, the inspiration will arrive, fully-packed cases in hand, stuffed with clever funny instant mood changers.

Instead, you find yourself running after it, pathetically calling as it ignores you, that magical glitter of ideas sprinkling in the air behind them but hitting you only squarely in the eye.

Or maybe that’s just me.

What I’m saying is inspiration is a tricky, fickle…traveling salesperson?

Is that what I’m saying?

Who can really tell at this point? Anyway, it’s Tuesday, so have a terrific one.

#MondayThoughts: Nonsense and escape

Standard

I’m devoting this week to utter nonsense. If it’s light, if it’s frothy, if it’s ridiculous, if it’s dream-based, I’ll be talking about it.

If it’s aliens in the clouds, look to my blog. Though that was a bad example, the clouds today are most certainly alien-free. But you get the idea.

I’m starting to see leaves emerge, even from a distance, and the grass is no longer a tentative green. Soon the crab apples will be in bloom, pillowy explosions of flowers.

Spring is very determined.

I’ve been noticing the birds flying closer and buzzing by more often, though none today, they’re off having their own adventures. Or maybe that means the weather will turn.

Though it was raining the other day, and the seagulls (they’re everywhere here, it always amuses me to see them in the supermarket parking lots) just flew on against the gray skies, the rain nothing to them.

It makes me wish, once again, that I could paint.

Anyway, here’s to finding a glimmer of lightheartedness in the every day. Have a great Monday and a wonderful start to your week.

#WednesdayWisdom: Looking up

Standard

I don’t see any birds today. The sky is heavy and dark and foreboding, so maybe they’re prepared, hunkering down.

Sheltering in place.

It looks like it will rain any minute.

We can’t control what’s above us, really. The planet will do what the planet will do.

And we can’t control what’s ahead of us, really. The future will do what the future will do.

But we can look up. We can take in the smooth underbelly of the clouds, pushing through in undulating grays, and see the bright stripes of gold between.

We can look to the horizon, a watercolor swipe of colors too intertwined to separate, sliding into that curved mantle above.

And we can look to the birds, who know when to stay put.

Take a second today to look up, and just see what you see. Have a great Wednesday.
