I accidentally took yesterday off for Labor Day, I wasn’t planning on it and then some time in the evening I realized it wasn’t Sunday and I hadn’t posted. Sorry if I left you wondering, normally I’d say.
Which brings us right into Chat Tuesday, still trying it out over here. It’s going medium.
GET IT? Because I was publishing on Medium??
Ugh, no, you’re right not to laugh, that’s awful. Really awful. Maybe it will be better for the both of us if I get some more coffee.
OK, coffee’s made, on we go.
Hopefully there will be no more slightly inscrutable puns. I make no promises.
It’s sunny today and relatively hot for early September, and I think my time at whatever twitter is now calling itself these days is largely done. The guy who owns it has turned, full force, to blaming Jewish people for its plummeting revenue, rather than accepting that all of his unpleasant and often unfathomable changes have made the site largely unusable.
Add to that his plan to end blocking and there’s no reason to stay there.
Besides, though it’s still growing and has many more features to come, Spoutible is a far better site. At least hitting the notification button doesn’t produce anxiety.
We all have lines we cannot cross and lines other people might cross, demarcating what is OK and not OK. And though we can feel very clearly that something is not OK, how we react to it can be confusing.
The reality is that we are not human electrified fences with our boundaries automatically defended. And it can be really hard to enforce them, especially when we’re people who were really never allowed any to start with.
Words are pretty gluey and unyielding today, I suspect I may have a migraine coming on. So that’s something to look forward to, but if this doesn’t have its normal flow or reasonable clarity, that’s probably why.
My point, I believe, anyway, is you don’t always have to stick it out and you don’t always have to leave. You don’t have to have absolutes either, which is tough for those of us in the black and white.
But for me, at this exact moment, that place once called twitter is not a good place for me to be. It saddens me, but I cannot change something over which I have zero control.
That could change, but this is where I am today. If you want social media interaction, I’ll be on Spoutible.
Not our best chat, but we do what we can. Have a great Tuesday.
