So today on Spoutible, someone in the UK demanded that Pres. Biden end the conflict in Gaza.
I told him he confused the president with the Doctor, who actually is the President of Earth, but beyond that, that he could not understand the irony still has me thinking about it here, in this space where we have our chats.
The reality is that British colonialism shockwaves still rattle almost all the the corners of the earth, including the Middle East, so the irony is a little much to bear. As much as they want us to look at images of their scowling King and Queen and find them charming when surrounded by the people still dealing with the aftermath.
Surrounded, but not too close, of course. A country that expelled all of its Jews and kept it that way for nearly 400 years. Inclusivity is really not their thing.
These thoughts are Big Thoughts for a Friday.
Now of course you know I do not think this is all British people or all English people, clearly if you’re here, you don’t think this way. I’m very fond of those of you who have stuck with me and hope some I don’t see lately are still around, if quiet.
But sometimes people need to read a room. This one irked me.
Aside from that, it’s sunny, warm for November, and the end of a week that’s kind of formless in my mind. Things happened, I did things but now, it would be hard to see them clearly, they’re one big lump of week.
