We’re having a stretch of sunny almost as long as the gloom, but there’s a quality to the light, as though the sun never fully rose or it’s already on its way to setting, even now, at ten o’clock in the morning.
Some days I imagine if I could go anywhere in the world, where would I go. Where would you go?
It’s such a big place, and there’s so much to see. But right now doesn’t feel like a good time to see it, with so many wars and posturing for more. Like we’re on the edge of a fire that could scorch the earth.
It could scorch the earth. Many times over.
And it’s not for the good of humanity, or for what’s moral or just but for the egos of men who care about nothing, absolutely nothing, but themselves. The people they kill are merely kindling for the flames, the only way they can get any warmth to penetrate the iciness of their souls.
We’ve wandered a long way from travel daydreams.
But sadly we cannot wander away from such men. Best we can do is prevent one of them from getting back into power, especially to avoid legal consequences, much like another man with such an ego.
I just wanted some vicarious travel, and here I am at the end of the world. Not a fan.
Given the chance, I’d love to see it all, though, meet people from places so far away from where I live, eat foods I’ve never seen before.
That last one is, of course tricky, given the migraine situation, but if I can safely travel the world in this scenario, I can also safely eat what it has to offer.
And with that, I will bid you a lovely Friday and a wonderful weekend, perhaps full of travel dreams, perhaps full of travel.
