It’s gray, and we’re supposed to get thunderstorms later. I hope we do, I love a thunderstorm, the rattle, the roar, the rain.
I’m not feeling “writey” today, and earlier I wasn’t feeling “workouty” either. But I did the workout over my own constant objections in my head, and it looks like we’ll get a post this morning the same way. Not everything comes easily.
Which is a point worth remembering.
We’re in the beginning of what will feel like a very long year, with the future of the world in the balance. Now as I write that, I realize it sounds overblown and like hyperbole, but it isn’t. It’s a factual accounting of what is at stake in this election.
Trump is more than aligned with putin, he’s a fanboy, he’s a sycophant, he’s a man with a crush that puts stars in his eyes, and he proved it by saying he would “let” Russia do “whatever the hell they want.“
You may not have noticed, but putin is evil shoved into a human suit with megalomaniacal dreams. No, not dreams, an obsession.
So you have trump, who is currently under charges of espionage for missing classified documents and promised to be a dictator on day one and use the office for revenge, a son-in-law who got $2 billion from Saudi Arabia, a slew of human assets killed, and a guy who is really into someone who seems to cause an epidemic of window heart attacks.
Add to that trump’s belief that he is immune from any consequences and global power and you have the makings of dystopia.
Again, not hyperbole.
So it all matters. Everything we do to prevent that matters. Getting Pres. Biden and VP Harris reelected MATTERS.
Yes, there will be a lot of people intent on discouraging us, intent on getting us to throw away our votes or focus on things that don’t matter. But if voting didn’t do anything, why would they try so hard to limit who can do it?
This is it, friends, this is where we map the future. Let’s work on our endurance because we’re going to need it.
