It’s sunny, it’s supposed to be much warmer today, like actual summer, and before we get started, if you think education on agriculture and access to fresh foods are great things, check out @blackcatprose aka Prof. Kyle and his wife Melissa’s Taproot Farm & Environmental Education Center which is holding a fundraiser, which they’re calling a “friendraiser “(!)and the link conveniently takes you there!
They are hoping to raise $5 from 200 donors, so if it’s something you support, check it out!
And now on to Wednesday.
I was talking to a friend on Spoutible who was talking to someone on another social media site who was convinced that Pres. Biden was the cause of the Heritage Foundation’s horrifying project to turn the US into their version of The Handmaid’s Tale. It’s called Project 2025 and when you read up on it, it is a story of oppression and likely genocide cloaked in boring cardboard language.
The boring cardboard language is so you don’t see how truly horrifying it is.
I won’t go into the details, that it’s from the Heritage Foundation alone should be sufficient. Take this key from it: it wants to dismantle government agencies and expand the powers of the president. It’s a roadmap to an authoritarian dictatorship; it’s a recreation of russia on US soil. And it’s SPECIFICALLY for trump’s benefit.
And somehow, somehow this person thinks this is because of Pres. Biden. And is apparently intractable.
So how do you handle it if you come across such a person?
Ask questions. That’s all you have to do. These kinds of stupid opinions, and that’s what they are, stupid, are based on foundations of air and sugar glass. The people who stick to them haven’t thought them through or much beyond liking how they sound.
So let them explain it to you. Until they run out of explanation.
This doesn’t work with people whose intent it is to spread misinformation or propaganda. But if it’s a real person, and you don’t let them divert the topic, maybe two times out of 15 you get somewhere.
Is it worth it? Hard to say, but that will be one less person repeating garbage, and that’s a win. And others can see your own reasoning, making up their own minds.
Anyway, that’s it for me this Wednesday. Have a wonderful day and check out Taproot Farm!
