It’s sunny and reasonably warm for the beginning of summer, and I didn’t sleep last night, not really.
My fan was kind of rattlely, so I turned it off at about 1 am and then I heard a loud bang and clatter. Not an ideal noise for that time of the night.
So upon investigation, I saw the part that holds the blades in place had fallen off, with the thing that secures them nowhere to be found. Truth be told, that seems to have gone a while ago, and this fan had some issues before. But I love it.
It has a remote.
So, at that ridiculous hour, I got my screwdrivers and pried the cover off and figured something out. And it ran fine all night. I just took it apart again, did a little ad hoc repair with a compression washer I had lying around and it’s running like a dream.
I’d say I’m more crafty than handy but it’s nice to know your way around a tool set.
Which makes me think of how we approach problems in our day to day. I’m a fan (!) of puzzle games, and really that’s what this became, using what I have on hand to make it work. Of course the stakes are very low on this front, at worst, I’d have to replace the fan.
And they seem to sell it at Target, so it can be done.
But if we approach the things that come at us like puzzles, they lose their emotional charge. There’s no real failing at a puzzle; you just haven’t solved it yet.
And it’s totally fine to get hints.
Anyway, that’s it for me for this week, have a terrific Friday and an ideal weekend.
