It’s gray today and maybe it will rain and maybe it won’t, but whatever it does outside I’m feeling trapped in a bizarro world.
I don’t know, you guys.
I cannot fight this feeling that what we’re seeing in this “rebellion” from people allegedly on our side is a grasping to maintain the power structure in this country, from the very people who claim to understand that structure stands on the necks and brutalized souls of people who are the booster for their leg up.
White privilege is dying in America, good riddance, and it is going to die no matter how horribly white people try to make it stay. There are the fascists, Republicans, who want to create a dictatorship to make it so with their Project 2025. Their intent to enshrine white privilege into law is clear and unambiguous.
White, male, Christian, cis, straight power.
Your basic nazi bingo.
But it’s the Democrats betraying their own constituents who get me. While playing to a certain percentage of their constituents, for whom it’s a woman not that woman, people who might use the word “shrill.”
This upsets me at a fundamental level so deep, it is painful to express, because you know, in your soul of souls that these people will never really have your back, will never really be on your side. I’ve had it play out, time and time again as someone who is not Christian.
I’ve seen it play out for my friends who are not white, who are other types of not Christian, who are not straight, who are not cis, who are something that deviates from what so many white people consider and want to maintain as “the norm.”
Gross, right? When you look at it that way?
I’d like to think it’s largely subconscious, this group of largely white Democrats, who feel like they are losing something but they can’t quite figure out what.
I’d like to think that.
But in my heart of hearts, I know it is the same story we’ve seen, time and time again. It’s not our backs they have.
So this cycle, even with this nonsense, we will vote for them again. But perhaps, perhaps, we should put pressure on the party itself to deliver and fund candidates who will advocate for all of their constituents.
All of them.
And not feed the rest of us to the fascist wolves so they can maintain a privilege they didn’t actually earn.
They could spend all this time and energy on the very real fascist threat we’re facing. On how incredibly unfit trump is. And yet they attack…us. Their own party. They attack the judgment and wisdom of the voters who chose Pres. Biden with a full understanding of how calendars work.
Have a thoughtful Tuesday.
