It’s sunny right now, though we had a really bad storm last night. Couldn’t tell that now, though. It’s pretty humid, so it’s supposed to be an uncomfortable day, which feels pretty apt overall.

Over the weekend, a responsible gun owner allegedly fired a SCOTUS-sanctioned weapon of war at donald trump. How or why he got so close, what his motivations were, who his target actually was, we don’t know; all we know is several squadrons of Good Guys with an Armory of Guns didn’t stop him before he killed someone and injured others.
President Biden has said all the grown up presidential things about it, so I don’t feel obligated. Aside from that, trump is one of the most evil people on this planet, he left toddlers to fend for themselves in court, denied children basic hygiene and blankets in detention, and let a pandemic burn resulting in over 1.2 million deaths so far.
I don’t have more empathy for him than he has for the nation he devasted while having power. All that said, the circumstances around the shooting itself and the shooter’s access are very odd.
In addition to that, Aileen Cannon has now dismissed the espionage case against trump, just in time for the RNC. She claimed that the appointment of Special Prosecutor Jack Smith was “illegal,” which isn’t likely to be upheld by the 11th Circuit.
I can’t lie, I do wonder if documents the government didn’t recover from trump, which he allegedly and apparently retained long after he left office, knowing he shouldn’t have them, will be circulating around Fascist Fest.
Anything is possible.

Trump’s Project 2025 is a roadmap to full authoritarian rule, and that’s why they’re so worked up that we know what’s in it and are talking about it. They probably thought no one would read it, but oh, people have. This isn’t about one republican; this isn’t about trump; this about ALL REPUBLICANS and the work they have been doing for decades.
Why do they want fascism? Who knows. Money. Sadism; if republicans enjoy anything, it’s actively hurting vulnerable people. Revenge for us having the nerve to think we’re also people.
Whatever the reason, we are the last line of defense against it. Reject all the effort to make us believe all is lost.
It’s not.
Even if the case is dismissed. Even if trump suddenly is getting “sympathy,” not that I’ve seen evidence of it. Even if they have the best Fascist Fest ever.
It’s not all lost. Not unless we lose it.
