(An AI generated image of the Capitol and some other buildings as a small-scale model) Well my first thought today is that it actually IS Friday, given I spent a good portion of yesterday thinking that’s what it was.
It was not.
I spent more of the day yesterday than I wanted putting together a shoe cabinet. I really like it, it looks good, it’s functional and it holds a lot, including sneakers. But wow, was it a beast to put together. So many parts.
Remind you of anything?
We are a country emerging from a time that left us scattered in pieces, disparate, apart. Our instruction manual, if we had one, would have far more than 31 steps, most broken into several steps themselves.
Yes, yes, I know, heavy-handed metaphor today but I think this assembly may have scarred me for life.
It’s not easy to get it back together. Or to put in 8 Allen head bolts where your electric screwdriver which you discovered did have a head that would fit them wouldn’t reach.
I seem to have lost my balance. Back to where I was going.
Pres. Biden got us reassembled. Pres. Biden figured out what to do when he was one screw short, the pliers he could use when that Allen head bit got stuck because he was trying to speed things up.
He got the frame up, he hung the door, installed the drawers.
And now Vice President Harris is going to fill that cabinet and make it live up to its highest potential.
Pun a billion percent intended.
It’s OK to be excited. This is exciting. We have spent so many years simply trying to make sure we don’t lose any of the parts, it’s almost like we’ve forgotten what they’re for.
We’re going to get a government for the people and by the people, not for the angry white men who hate all the people. This is no dystopian story.
This is a story of hope, of triumph, and of functional shoe storage.
Well…maybe not so much the last one, but hey, I need to get full mileage out of my efforts.
Have a great Friday and a wonderful weekend. Show your joy about VP Harris, they already stole ours over her vice presidency, we will not allow that again.
