It’s a gray one today, probably with rain, but who knows, maybe only clouds. I had one of those nights packed with weird dreams, and little details keep popping back to me.

I don’t know why we remember some and forget others. Some people don’t remember their dreams at all, and I go through long stretches when they’re gone the moment I wake.

Which makes last night all the stranger.

Speaking of strange, I’m having a hard time wrapping my head around the idea that anyone would even consider voting for donald or Project 2025 at this point. Not “or,” really because the two go hand in hand, but it is a plan for the complete destruction of the United States as we know it, along with a seizure of assets in various ways from basically everyone.

Think about every single fascist government system in every single dystopian movie or book or show and that is what those people want to do, without a shred of irony.

Who would willingly step into that?

It brings to mind Amy Coney Barrett, who recently joined the liberal wing for a decision, and there was a picture of her with the other women of the Court. She is a person in a position to vote for her own subjugation and the subjugation of all women.

Which she’s already done, as we know.

But perhaps it is dawning on her she won’t always be the exception. She brings to mind Serena Joy from The Handmaid’s Tale, the show, not the book, who, spoiler alert, was herself architect of the system which rendered her a nonperson.

She too believed she had a special privilege. She did not.

Barrett’s existence defies her “morals,” and clearly she doesn’t truly subscribe to those beliefs. If she did, she wouldn’t be a lawyer, let alone a justice; she would be at home not speaking and deferring to her husband.

Now she is on the bench with some incredible, outstanding, inspiring women. Justice Kegan, Justice Sotomayor, Justice Jackson.

Who wouldn’t want to be friends with them?

And why would she want to hang with the men who see her as a broodmare? Imagine the discussions that went into Roe.

Even for a woman who believed she was the permanent exception, that would be eye opening.

There are enough people wanting to subjugate others; never volunteer or do their work for them.

And with that, I wish you a lovely Thursday.
