It’s sunny right now but it looks like storms could be coming. Maybe, maybe not.
Overall I’m not a huge fan of the unknown, I prefer having all the facts in front of me, weighing them up, seeing where they go, but life really doesn’t agree with that philosophy. I’ve got some personal things up in the air; we, as a nation, have the entire future up in the air.
It can feel a little rocky.
Or a lot rocky, if we’re being honest.
And yet that’s just how it is. It wasn’t always this dire, honestly, or at least didn’t feel that way, but in retrospect every single republican win brought us to this precipice. They broke “norms” which were not laws; they stacked the courts; they created a false image of their agenda by wringing all meaning out of words.
So this is the end game of decades of that effort, not a sudden onslaught, not a new faction. This is it.
This is republicanism.
Even their name is a lie.
Some people don’t mind the waves, they ride them calmly, secure that whatever next crests, they can handle it. Maybe people that resolute haven’t seen the worst of life and do know how bad that next wave may be.
Or maybe they have.
The point of this is, today, I think, that if you are uncomfortable right now, even with all of the joy and excitement we have for Harris/Walz, it’s OK. We still have to get out and vote to make this beautiful future a reality, to make donald a final loser.
It’s OK to be uncomfortable. But the important part is to push ahead anyway.
Have a great Thursday.
