It’s sunny, I think, one of those days where the sky is a very light blue that could perhaps be clouds, and I am fighting myself to focus. Lots of things to keep track of; if you read yesterday’s post, many chainsaws.
A fitting Tuesday to follow that Monday.
But what I find works for me, sometimes, most of the time, is taking a deep breath and then settling into the one thing in front of me.
It doesn’t matter what that one task is, mine is different from yours, clearly, but you know what it is, that hurdle that needs to be cleared before you can go back and arrange the rest of them into a day or a week or a year. But even so, there are times the other things nag at me.
And I say to myself “I’m doing this now.”
It’s surprising how well that works, really. Maybe the act of talking to ourselves is far more effective than we think while laughing at the self-muttering.
“I’m doing this now.”
It seems to give my brain permission to let go of all the other things that are fighting for attention, all the other worries and and tasks. Because we can really only do one thing at a time, no matter what we tell ourselves.
“I’m doing this now,” and there’s a sense of relaxation into whatever it is. This is its time, and nothing else’s. I can do one thing.
We can all do one thing.
And that’s it for me today, have an amazing Tuesday, whatever the hurdle ahead.
