And again, it’s sunny, and I’m thinking we’re past due for some rain. Maybe this weekend. We’ll see.
From the moment we fired donald, had him removed unceremoniously from the White House by security over his strenuous objections, his cardboard boxes of reportedly worse than pilfered post-it notes in tow, we’ve wanted to rid ourselves of this nightmare of an employee. But he just won’t go.
We hate his voice and his affected manner of speaking. I’ve been watching episodes of Columbo, and I would swear he’s built his persona out of an amalgam of villains from that show, including that deliberate, angry, patronizing tone. The episode I just finished (spoiler alert) had a politician who was faking the death threats against him.
So old yet so timely. Hearing the fictional wannabe Senator drone on about crime and how he alone would solve the problem makes me wonder why more than 50 years of “tough on crime” politicians haven’t made a dent and also why people still believe they can, given, by their admission, their long and consistent rate of failure.
But I digress.
We hate donald’s lies; we hate his ludicrous, baseless ideas that change with the breeze; we hate his hatred; we hate that he is treated like anything but the proven failure that he is.
It must be something to fail upward like he has, like a pneumatic tube of rewards requiring no actual effort on his part and resisting all of his actions that would send anyone other than someone like him plummeting to earth. Imagine providing an audience nothing but a steady diet of word salad, yet being treated like each sentence is a pearl, let alone makes sense.
It boggles the mind.
Donald is the worst of what humanity can dredge up. He embodies all of the characteristics deemed so awful, someone put them together and called them “deadly sins.” His idea of “leadership” points solely inward, a one-stop-shop Narcissus, pond and all.
As we move forward, then, I think it’s vital we remind people who seem to have had that horrible five years excised from their memory that donald already had the job he wants now. Donald did the worst job of anyone who has ever had that job.
And that’s not from his “haters” but 154 SCHOLARS who know history.
Donald can’t claim that he has some tax ideas that will help average people, because he ALREADY passed the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act which REMOVED the credits he’s claiming he’d put back, and is, like donald himself, a massive failure.
Donald can’t claim he’d protect women’s health or access to abortion in any capacity, including the health and life of the person carrying the pregnancy, as his handpicked judges overturned Roe v. Wade, which he brags about as “I was able to kill Roe v. Wade.“
Which, in turn, killed at least two women in Georgia alone whose deaths were preventable, and the data on that is only starting to come in now. It’s likely far, far more.
Whatever he rants about, including immigrants, there is evidence to remind us of what he actually did. Like separating families, banning Muslims from entering the country, and forcing toddlers to represent themselves in court.
He is not fit for office, and we know that going in because he already proved that in a thousand ways, not the least of which was his attempt to overthrow the Constitution to stay in power, or his demand to “terminate” parts of the Constitution when that failed.
We remember.
Let’s make them remember too.
Have a great Thursday.
