It’s gray and windy and cool here today, certainly better than in the parts of the country dealing with Helene, but not the best of weather. Cozy, though, the kind of day made for writing.

We’ll see what happens.

It’s Friday again, and somehow September is nearly over. It started and then somehow it’s ending and I’m sure there were days in between, but I don’t remember them clearly, they’re more of a blurred surface, like smoothed asphalt, one day into the next.

Maybe it’s because of this election, or maybe that’s just how time moves now, amorphous, yet unyielding. Ever forward.

Except for the republicans trying to drag us backward, but that’s another story.

Sometimes I wish I could read the future like jumping to the end of a book, not that I’ve ever been one to do that. But to know it’s already there, written, waiting, accessible.

I think we’re going to be OK.

I truly believe we’re going to be OK.

But it would be nice to know, without qualms or wiggle room, that we are going to be OK.

There are some people in this world who are thieves, even if they don’t steal from you directly. They steal time, they steal ideas, they steal joy, they steal your life force.

We all know donald is one of those people.

And there he is, the neediest human on the planet, it seems, demanding the energy of everyone and it’s never enough for him, because there’s nothing there, inside him. He’s a shell of a person with cruelty where a soul should be.

We’ve all had more than enough of it.

So when we look at joy in human political form, it’s difficult not to want it, and not to want it now. Not that Pres. Biden isn’t doing his job, he is and I will support him straight through to the end of his term.

But I want to read that glorious ending, those fantastic final pages where all the plot and the action is done and you reap the reward for sticking through it, through facing the worst so you can get to the best.

Personally I’d enjoy a world where there were no donald trumps, where people treated other people well simply because they’re other people. Where greed isn’t the number one quality, next to bigotry, next to hatred.

But I suppose every story needs a villain.

And every story has a hero. In our case, tens of millions of us who will go to the polls and vanquish the demon forever.

Now that will be a happy ending worth waiting for.

Have a great Friday and a wonderful weekend.
