It’s a blobby white cloud over blue sky kind of day, but they’re moving quickly. We’re supposed to get all the way up to nearly 80 today, and I’m left wondering how we skipped from winter to summer.
That’s Chicago for you.
I leaned into what was distracting me on Friday, went to bed early, and I was up early Saturday with a surge of energy. It feels like most things in life relate to a Bob’s Burgers episode, but I was reminded of when Bob learned to mediate for the first time, and he became a dynamo.
The energy didn’t last, because if energy did that and I figured out how I think I’d be in Sweden accepting my award(s), because that would deserve a sweep of the science categories.
But still, it did remind me that a little self-care goes a long way. We don’t have to run ourselves until we’re nothing but metal rims on the road. We can have a little rubber between us and the pavement.
Not sure about my metaphors so far this week, but hey, you get the idea. I assume.
You’ll let me know if you don’t.
This morning, as I opened the blinds, I saw a spider testing out the area around the frame. Now that I look out the window, I see, if it is one spider, it’s an extremely productive one, because there are two areas of web completely packed with small winged insects.
That spider is eating well.
I don’t know if the webs were here, maybe I didn’t notice them. Or maybe all of that spider’s realm was built in a day. I can’t be sure, but I’m also not going to disturb it.
But it feels a lot like that, these days, all things we know to be solid and true, even the things we’ve built ourselves, fluttering in the wind.
We can’t be sure if they’ll hold.
But the web is stronger than it looks.
Maybe now is the time to test out some area around the frame. Maybe now is the time to stay close to already-spun webs, as full or as less full as they are.
Definitely true now is the reality that one size will not fit all, not for the foreseeable future. It’s OK if your web management varies.
And as I wrote this, the clouds blew past, leaving nothing but blue.
Have a great Monday.
