It’s sunny, it’s not super hot, and some of the trees are already partially bathed in yellow. They know, the summer’s nearly gone.

It was a very quick one for me this year.

It’s the Chicago Air & Water Show again this weekend, and the planes are out, “practicing.” I don’t know if they’re really practicing or drumming up business, like the circuses used to do, parading through the towns.

Only instead of elephants and tigers and other animals who belonged far away from dusty midwestern streets, we get very loud weapons of war.

Well if you’ve been here a while, you know how I feel about the show.

And especially right now, when he’s deployed military into our capital city, when he’s threatened to deploy military here, each startling, building-shaking zoom doesn’t feel like protection.

It feels like a threat.

I suppose it always was supposed to feel that way, it just wasn’t aimed at our own citizens.

And now…who knows. They’re setting up “checkpoints” in DC. Checkpoints.

It’s not the first time, that former mayor turned full-time malicious clown did that in New York, too, in his time.

I guess my refrain is that we could have kept going in the direction we did those past four years, toward wonderful things, toward security and comfort.

But we didn’t. We aren’t. People signed up for the nightmare again, this time with more nightmare.

I am not a fan.

Anyway, that’s it for me today, have a wonderful, safe Thursday.

Buy me a cup of coffee!
