“When you deliberately distort and selectively present the truth, you lie.”

Charlie Kirk (attributed; cannot find original source)

OK, lets ignore the “Webster’s Dictionary defines” reductive nature of that quote, and get to the meaty bit. There is no one more greatly disrespecting the memory of Charlie Kirk than his so-called fans, and they’re doing it by deliberately distorting and selectively presenting his work.

With reports of people being suspended and fired for having opinions on his death or even just quoting him, what greater stain could there be on the legacy of a person who pushed for unfettered free speech rights?

Why would it be problematic to quote him in his own words? How does that do him a disservice? That is the insult. If you can’t proudly stand by what your hero said and actually have to “distort and selectively present” to make him an hero and not an intolerable bigot, it is you who is insulting him.

Not the person quoting him.

And they are desperate to make the alleged shooter, who appears to be a Nick Fuentes-loving gamer, into some kind of liberal. The trump-shirt wearing and trump costume, I guess are to be ignored.

You know what Charlie would have to say.

“When you deliberately distort and selectively present the truth, you lie.”

This death is supposed to be a subject-changer and an argument ender. We are not supposed to clamor for the release of the Epstein files, or talk about the check or the birthday card.

We’re not supposed to talk about the way donald and republicans killed an economic boom for Georgia with their unconscionable and horrific treatment of Koreans here to help our economy. They were treated so badly, as a matter of fact, the South Korean government is looking into whether there were human rights violations.

And while the party of violent political rhetoric cries about violent political rhetoric, a Fox News anchor casually suggested “involuntary lethal injection” for homeless people. And in case they didn’t get it, added “just kill them.”

ICE rounds up people, brutally. ICE detains people, brutally. But they don’t like us quoting their guy back to them. Ouchie, the psychological wound!

And they call us too sensitive.

For example, Ava Raine, a professional wrestler I guess, is being criticized for her “bold” take on Charlie Kirk becoming a Second Amendment volunteer:

If you want people to have kind words when you pass, you should say kind words while you’re alive.”

I genuinely do not understand how that could be controversial or even bold. I mean is saying be kind while you’re alive violent rhetoric now?

It reminds me of people being fired for saying things like “have the kind of day you voted for” or “I hope you get what you voted for.” There’s got to be some serious consciousness of guilt for that to sound insulting to you.

There is only one side of the spectrum with violent political rhetoric, and it’s the one who thinks “be kind” is a bad thing. Though he said he prayed it not to be, the alleged killer was, according to the unsubtle governor of Utah, “one of us.” And now he’s trying to make it not so, as the prayer clearly didn’t work. Let’s go back to Charlie for his take on the matter:

“When you deliberately distort and selectively present the truth, you lie.”

We’re not sullying Charlie Kirk’s memory, if such a sordid thing can be sullied.

They are. By repudiating his words, by eschewing his supposed ideals to fit a narrative they want to foment violence they want.

Violence they want.

Violence they want.

They and they alone dishonor Charlie Kirk when they get people suspended and fired because they don’t like what they had to say about him. After all, wouldn’t their departed hero instead engage the people in debate and ask them to prove him wrong?

That’s what they keep claiming, anyway.

Shame on you, republicans. Shame on you for trying to undo the life’s work of your guy because his life’s work is objectively unpalatable.

And let’s get on with what actually matters now, the real threats and actions of political violence through ICE , through the escalating abuse of the National Guard, and through republican rhetoric.

Have a great Monday.
