It’s another lovely day around here, and I am utterly dragging. I overslept and I’ve been off schedule ever since. Even sitting down to write I’ve had several new sparkly distractions.
So it goes.
I’m mentally taxed, I’m sure you’re mentally taxed, because the idea is to exhaust us mentally. And we are exhuasted.
And so we shall be. I won’t pretend to be pithy or fiery, even in the wake of this all-out assault on the First Amendment, which follows, by the way, an all-out assault on the Fourth and Fourteenth Amendments, as well as the Sixth Amendment (right to counsel), and the Eighth Amendment (cruel and unusual punishment).
If you think republicans aren’t destroying the Constitution from within, and that this isn’t everything they’ve ever wanted, well, you’re probably great at denial and also probably swimming in privilege you pretend not to see.
Well maybe a little bit fiery.
While I won’t go into this lovely piece a Spoutible friend shared here detailing an Indigenous plan for dealing with all we currently face (read it at your leisure over the weekend) toaday, I do want to say this.
Let’s all, whether for a minute or five or ten or thirty or an hour or as long as we can muster, put our energy into the vision we want to see in the world, instead of pouring it all toward everything we don’t.
It’s a challenge, because the bad stuff is coming at us constantly, and that’s why I say what time we can muster.
But take that slice of time, and focus on the world we want to see.
Get some good rest this weekend, and we’ll be back at it, universe willing, on Monday.
Have a great Friday and a great weekend.
