It’s a sunny one, and the sky doesn’t seem to know that donald has succeeded in getting his indictment against James Comey, one of the people who knows the true extent of donald’s relationship with Russia.
It’s an obvious political move, and donald told us over and over and over and over and over and over and over again that he planned to use the government to go after his political enemies. And yet those of us who said he meant it, we were the ones who were unhinged.
Mmm-hmm.
We knew this was coming because he published what was purportedly a direct message to pam bondi, henchwoman and receiver of a questionable $25,000 campaign donation followed by a refusal to prosecute trump university. The message demanded, within a lot of characters that made very little sense, prosecutions start now.
And then they did.
Let me be as clear as rain on a distant, unhuman-polluted planet. I have no concerns for James Comey the man. I do not fear for him, I do not worry for him, and I have zero desire to rescue him from the monster he patted on the head while pompously removing its competition and pretending it was virtue.
He was supposed to rescue US. He was supposed to protect US.
Instead, he put the FA in fascists.
Now the FO is here for him.
It is impossible for me to let go of that anger and resentment for the man who literally blocked the fork in the road for us. The man who hasn’t shown a morsel of regret for it, either.
And all this while thousands, hundreds of thousands, we really don’t know how many, people are being snatched off the street and denied basic constitutional rights. We might only learn the extent of the brutality thanks to the brave Koreans who, after their dehumanizing and horrendous ordeal in what appeared to be illegal custody, are making sure the world takes notice.
So to me, and anyone who feels the same way I do, Comey has to be as symbol of established fascism. He is an outer boundary they’re pushing forth. He is an emblem of our system, a smug, patronizing white man who is certain he knows best now confronted with the actual consequences of his actions.
Not the action of conducting the investigation.
But letting it come to nothing, giving another white man the white man discount, while offering a slam dunk on a too-qualified, too-smart, too-woman woman.
And by pursuing such an emblem, donald and his unconstitutional government are saying all bets are off.
Do I wish we’d stood firm for all these people being swept off the streets by masked thugs?
Of course I do.
Do I wish, as many have pointed out, we’d stood firm for the Black women ushered out by the regime?
Obviously.
For Colbert? I mean why didn’t we? Because Steven Colbert is not that same smug white man emblem.
But Jimmy Kimmel is.
Also the First Amendment aspect wasn’t as open or blatant in terms of government pressure, though donald’s gloating seems to confirm that was the push.
I also suspect all this kowtowing is going to be for naught for these affiliates because if anything, it will bleed more viewers from network viewing through the network. But that’s a whole other discussion.
We’re terrified of progress even in the face of losing everything. Comey had to know what would come of his choice, but he chose it over a woman for president.
I think, if I were James Comey, I would go for broke and start publishing everything I knew about donald’s corruption.
But Comey isn’t a brave man. He’s not a heroic man, he’s not a generous man. I don’t even know if he’s patriotic man, given what his decisions have ushered in.
He’s not a man willing to face even a little discomfort for the good of the nation.
We know that now.
He’s just a white man who handed another white man the power to put him in prison because he wants to.
It’s tough, but we have to focus only on that “because he wants to” part. Not the who, but the why and how.
And that’s it for me on this Friday. Have a great day and a wonderful weekend.
