It’s sunny, it’s cool and with the firing and replacing of a whole bunch of ICE people, it seems like they’ll soon be bringing the thug-run violence to a town near you.
Great.
My thoughts today are with Jamaica as a terrifying, terrifying hurricane bears down on it, and no one knows what we’ll find on the other side. I hope people stay safe, I hope the damage is as minimal as possible, and I hope it’s through far more quickly than they think it will be.
And I hope it hits no one else.
This huge planet has so much force, and we’ve fed it, haven’t we, by stoking and abusing the climate, and now it’s like Gremlin and we didn’t pay attention to the feeding rules.
Storms have always carried terrible risks and have caused horrendous devastation, but yet we don’t know what this one will do.
The cruelty of living seems only to affect some, and the worst of us escape it entirely, it seems.
I don’t know why that is, but that’s in my mind a lot right now. How the terrible, how the truly evil, how the mildly evil seem to have very pleasant lives.
I am so scared for people I have never met, will never meet.
But that’s true in many senses these days.
I guess I don’t have anything deep or erudite to share today, the thoughts rattling around are shallow, mostly based in fear and concern.
I am hoping for the best. In a truly magical thinking way, but at least it couldn’t hurt.
That’s it for me today. Have a great Tuesday, and if you’re in the path, please stay safe.
