So I have a Cricut cutter, you may or may not know, and every so often they offer “mystery boxes,” the contents of which are, well, a mystery.
I’ve gotten three so far, and the first two had some really great things of value in them, including cutting mats and in the last one, a baseball cap which I decorated for my dad.
This one, however, is a disappointment. Mini glue sticks but no glue gun, so I would have to buy one to make them work. Cards for a totally different model of machine. Ten sheets of felt. Some removable vinyl which, while nice as it’s 20 sheets, Amazon has other brands extremely affordably.
Some heavy foil cardboard, which I got as well in another multi-pack of items and haven’t used. Some iron-on in a strange gold-greeny color called “lemongrass.” An odd “brushed” “matte” raspberry-colored permanent vinyl.
In essence, not the happy haul I was expecting.
But that’s the way it goes, sometimes, isn’t it? Surprises aren’t always what you wanted or what you’d hoped to get.
Minor disappointments are kind of the cloudy days of life. Not enough to complain about, but definitely not brightening your day.
Given the lackluster contents, I don’t think I’d do another Cricut Mystery Box. They’re not cheap, so I think of it as a crafting treat, one with unexpected possibilities.
But I could use that money on supplies I know I’ll use.
It’s OK to let the small things get to you a little. I know we’re told we’re supposed to ignore them or let them go or let them roll off.
That’s much easier said than done, and easier said by someone to whom it didn’t happen.
Gripe for a bit, if only to yourself. It’s not a failing.
But after that, have a great Wednesday.
