It’s Wednesday, and I’m late posting today because I had groceries delivered and it threw me off. Not as much as getting them myself at the store would, mind you.
I have to say, I really like grocery delivery. Also my dad currently has COVID (he’s doing OK, thank you!) and we think he got it at a grocery store so there’s that. I had three negative tests, so I think I’m in the clear.
But between not wanting to be interrupted in the middle when they arrived, and then putting them away, I am not as early as I like to be. I’m not sure that it matters, though, in the scheme of things.
It’s sunny, and warmer than usual for November, which is interesting, like November wants to get on my good side, which maybe it can now that October is so full of not great days. We’ll see, November, we’ll see.
Some of us are very tied to our routines, and there’s nothing wrong with that. But then you get gum in the works, which is not the phrase but close enough to the phrase to have you wondering if it was deliberate and I assure you, it was.
Then you get gum in the works, and it’s hard to keep turning. And then you resist the gum and it gets more stubborn and gummy.
Instead, go with the flow, which I now realize is not the right counter for this metaphor but it’s too late now so I guess go with the flow of the solvent that will get the gum out of the works?
Not all my pearls of wisdom can be perfectly round, I guess. We’re going to to get some weird, lumpy ones in there.
The point is it’s OK to lean into it if the day–or the metaphor–doesn’t go as planned. You might get something good.
Like a full order of groceries. Or a lumpy pearl.
