It’s gray yet again as I stand strong in my battle of wills with YouTube, which is doing everything within its power to try to coerce me into getting ad-free.
It shall not win.
If YouTube/Google knew me at all, it would know that coercion will make me find ways to completely ignore the ads, leaving the room if necessarily, while the quickest way to signing me up…
Is a nice discount.
Use honey, YouTube/Google. Not vinegar.
All carrot.
Which leads me to my thought for today which is our motivations can really vary, can really prove specific to us. A coupon code that works may not get your heart aflutter, maybe it’s the idea that you could save time, or not have a video interrupted.
But as a metaphor, not literally.
Maybe one of the trickiest parts of being a human, particularly an adult human, is figuring out what gets us from stationary to in motion, whatever that motion may be. And not for the sake of others.
For the sake of ourselves.
I’d love a world where we could get to that without any negative sources of motivation: fear; anger; outrage; loss. But the truth is those set us in motion as well, as distressing as that motion may be.
We can leave those negative motivators to outside forces though, or at least we can try to, and really listen to ourselves and hear what it is, unique to us, that will get us to take that leap into the exciting and unknown.
Or comfortable and generally familiar. This is about what you makes you, specifically you, uniquely you, get closer to what you want on this strangely beautiful blue-green bubble hurtling through space so fast we don’t feel a thing.
Have a great Wednesday.
