It’s much warmer than it’s been, it’s 17 degrees, which isn’t warm but is double digits above zero. It’s sunny again, though, white of the snow, blue of the sky, and we’re supposed to get more snow later.

We’ll see.

Listened to most of Christopher Bouzy’s test of Pods, the upcoming audio feature on Spoutible, and for the most part, it worked well. I am not a big fan of that form of medium, and while it offers the possibility of live conversations like panel discussions and debates, I also don’t like podcasts really I can’t compare, but I think it’s impressive.

That doesn’t mean I won’t attend future events.

But the thing that struck me was the point that we don’t have to limit ourselves to a single social media platform, which is, of course true. Different places can serve different functions.

Personally I find it’s difficult for me to participate fully if I’m trying to heavily participate in multiple places. Christopher made the point that if you’re promoting yourself, you should be. Cast a wider net.

I think we can all agree, promoting myself is not my forte. Like…did you know I have several books for sale?

Right?

Anyway, I think that leads us to another part of Spoutible he touched on: it’s a place where we can be ourselves, however those selves may be. On erstwhile twitter, I noticed that I would often switch longer words for shorter ones, and get more engagement there.

On Spoutible, though, however I want to put something, someone will get it.

So there’s my dilemma in spending time other places, even, if like that one food you don’t like, “it’s good for me.”

I just don’t wanna. I’ve become accustomed to an inbox that doesn’t cause anxiety. I am now used to trolls traveling singly and not in packs.

I like mute and block functions that actually work.

You can do what works for you, you even have permission from the Boss himself, not that you need it. If you haven’t joined us on Spoutible, dip a toe in.

The water’s fine.

Yes there are an endless supply of nautical puns. Yes I’m still trying to make “pylon” a thing for “pile on.”

No it’s still not working.

Anyway, that’s it for me today, have a wonderful Wednesday and remember the choice, as always, is yours.

  1. Interesting – I’m not really into podcasts or that excited about pods either, but I’m sure I’ll give it a try. And yeah – at this point I’m just happy to be on Spoutible so don’t even think of going elsewhere! (This is prof. Kyle, by the way!) 🙂

    1. HI!!! I wasn’t sure, thank you for telling me! I totally agree, I had to open twitter for a minute and it made me anxious.
