It’s sunny, it’s summery and I am very, very draggy, though I couldn’t tell you why. Probably a migraine brewing, which we all know is my favoritest favorite.
During my workout this morning, a YouTube video, I watched the little progress bar. I knew I was in trouble at 8% when I was thinking in fractions of being a quarter way through. Some workouts are like that, it’s inevitable.
I did finish though. I am also on my second cup of coffee so there’s that too. I don’t think it’s helping but what do I know, I’m stuck at 8%.
The Supreme Court seems resolute in keeping the US awash in blood, once again ignoring what the Constitution actually says to keep guns in the hands of murderers. Instead of counting sheep, I suspect John Roberts counts dead children to soothe himself to sleep.
They are monsters, those conservatives, cloaked in a flavorless tapioca disguise, every single inch of them, poison.
The framers really overestimated human nature, but then again they also thought kidnapping and brutalizing people, forcing them to work, routinely sexually assaulting them and tearing apart families for profit was for “gentlemen.” So.
Maybe they’d join Roberts in relishing the never-ending oceans of gun blood.
Remember when Roberts was whining about the security for SCOTUS? That he didn’t feel safe because people were protesting with words? Does he feel better now that they can protest with something that’s like an automatic weapon?
I’m sure that they’ll be happy to welcome all guns at the RNC.
You probably know by now that I don’t believe anyone should own a gun. No one. As I say often: any gun owner, any day; that gun owner today.
This is not a point of discussion for me or a jumping off point. There is no argument you can make that will sway me in the slightest, because every argument defending any type of gun ownership is fundamentally flawed.
And in this country, no, I don’t even think guns for hunting. Other hunting weapons exist, and if people have proven anything here, it’s that they cannot responsibly have guns for any reason.
The sole purpose of a gun is to have the ability to kill when the whim arises, quickly and irrevocably. Guns in the US are a symbol of supremacy, the ultimate argument ender. It only takes once.
And that’s beyond the incredibly high rate of accidents, especially with children. Overall, guns are the leading cause of death in children in the US. Homicide is the leading cause of death in pregnant people, with firearms as top means of murder.
That line about Roberts counting dead children to go to sleep doesn’t sound so much like hyperbole anymore, does it, especially since he considers fetuses people, if not actual, fully formed women.
The 2nd Amendment is actually very clear that there was no intention for an individual right to bear arms, over half the words are used to make that point:
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
They even put it first for clarity, but the “originalists” lopped off the entire clause to achieve their gun murder utopia.
Well, on that note, I am going to call it a day and a week. Have a great Friday, a wonderful weekend and remember your apathy or refusal to face reality could bring us another convicted felon trump term which would add more people like those conservatives to the bench under a hate-filled authoritarian to whom they could give unfettered power.
Vote wisely.
