(AI generated image of a person about to step off a cliff into a huge drop down to water) It’s a sunny day, though allegedly windy, and after seeing a preview for a show about the Roman empire, I find myself thinking about the damage caused by the egos and greed of some specific men throughout history.
Yes, men, it always seems to be men.
It’s not an abstract thought; here we are perched on the very edge of a 1000 foot plunge into another disaster of history. This is one time we should absolutely look down.
The fascist party, also known as republicans or the GOP, are so close to dystopia they can taste it. So close to subjugating everyone who is not them; to “owning” everything, to “controlling” everything.
One election away.
No wonder they tried to make “antifascist” a bad thing. That’s what “antifa” means, even when they distort the pronunciation to conceal it. Antifascist. What every sane person should be.
What they are not. They are fascists. You can stop calling us hysterical for saying it too, they have a 900 page Project 2025 document and a very blandly hateful convention to prove it.
None of these people should even look at power, let alone have any. They are the worst humanity has to offer; their dreams at night are filled with all the horrible things they want to do to other people.
So voting for Democrats isn’t a matter of mood, or a matter of “being in love” with a candidate, or a matter of alignment so perfect it makes the heavens jealous.
It is, in the words of a friend we haven’t seen for a while and greatly miss, “harm reduction.” It’s OK if politicians, like our mommies, don’t give us everything we want.
And let me be clear, we’re not choosing “the lesser of two evils.” The Democratic party is not evil. President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris are certainly not evil.
But the fascist republicans are. It’s not bias, it’s fact.
They are walking cesspools of hatred and greed barely contained by skin. You can see it when they speak, the anger that others have the nerve to exist at all, let alone the nerve to exist and have something they don’t or they want.
They are without conscience or allegiance to anything but their own wealth, and if you think you can get a piece of that wealth, well, you’d better already have it and lots of it.
We are expendable if we are not useful, and that is not a world you want to experience from a government, especially if you are among the people who think they’ll probably still be fine and will get to sit out the horror, maybe with a gasp or a “but what can we do?” here or there.
The time to stop this is now. Before it happens. Because if it happens, it may never be undone.
Think about that.
Never. Undone.
Have a proactive Wednesday, independent of mood. I will try to as well.
