We’re back to sunshine, the clouds and the rain now gone. I’ve had some coffee, but I could use more, and isn’t that always the case.

Until you’ve had too much, I guess.

That’s never a fun state to be in.

We spend a lot of time thinking about what’s to come, what could be, what we hope will never be. And while that might be time better spend doing, sometimes our control is contained to a small little parcel.

Like our vote. Or the steps we can take to get out the vote.

And I’ve even lost myself, because on this Wednesday weeks before the most consequential election of our lifetimes, our task seems out of proportion with the consequences, with the result.

And, you know, we’ve been conditioned to think that way. Our meager vote, our tiny voice, our invisible impact.

Because if we think it’s small enough, if we think it’s unimportant enough, maybe we’ll throw it away, a crumpled discard, just as the people who do not have enough votes for a fair fight want us to.

It’s not a small thing. It is our greatest power, our greatest right, our greatest privilege as citizens, learning what the candidates stand for and voting for the ones who will do the best for us.

And not that will make our every wish come true, we’re not placing an order at a fast food restaurant. Governance doesn’t work that way, and by now we all know that.

It’s our ticket to the future, our proof of ownership, those few minutes alone with our ballots. And this year is a true use it or lose it situation.

Donald has said, more than once, that we won’t have to vote again. Like it’s a chore.

It’s not a chore.

It’s a gift, but one to which we are entitled as citizens of this country.

So let us slog through this last bit together, no doubt the desperate republicans, clinging to that dying light of power, will try what they can to make it impossible or uncomfortable or plain undesirable for us to exercise our right to vote.

We will not be deterred. We will not be discouraged. We will hold our heads high and get through the muck to a bright and waiting future we all deserve.

Have a great Wednesday.
