Sunny and warmer, and by warmer, I mean 82, and for Chicago, not a ton of weather variety. Sunday is the Chicago Marathon, and so far they’re predicting partially cloudy skies, mid-60s. In the morning, though, when they run the race, it’s likely to be chilly.

Often I go watch the race to cheer on the runners. Not sure if I will this year, I guess I’ll see come Sunday.

Last year I watched on TV and that was more fun than I expected. It’s not as though it requires any advanced planning from my part.

It’s another one of those things I used to really enjoy that just feels…different lately. Maybe it’s post-pandemic, maybe it’s post the loss of my mom, I don’t know.

But it is a way to make a huge city feel like one single community, with people in all the neighborhoods coming out to cheer. The runners work so hard, and it’s rare to see professional athletes that close, for the moment you can see them as they sprint on by. Sprint. For a full marathon.

Who knows. Well, you, probably when I report back on Monday.

Besides that, the thoughts I have rattling around are many of the same thoughts of the week, largely centering around how anyone could take anyone as pouty and corrupt and weird and ridiculous as donald with any seriousness. It’s a permanent episode of the Twilight Zone, only we’ve yet to get to the Rod Serling wrap-up.

And it is with that I leave you for the week, have the best of Fridays and a wonderful weekend.

Buy me a cup of coffee!
