They said it was supposed to rain today, but I don’t see a cloud in the sky. Not sure how that will happen.
Oh now they’re saying overnight. We’ll see.
Or we won’t. Because hopefully we’ll be sleeping. If it’s sleeping time. Wow, we’re off to a raucous start.
I’ve got a quote from Puck from A Midsummer Night’s Dream floating around in my head this morning: “What fools these mortals be!”
That trickster fairy had a point.
As we wend our way into these final days of the election that feels utterly endless, I wonder how many people will be fooled by mirages and false bottoms and sleights of hand.
I came across a quote from an “undecided voter,” which, frankly I believe are as mythical as Puck, who wishes VP Harris wasn’t so much of a bully.
…
…
…
Yeah, me too. It is, of course, the plight of women to be constantly criticized, and this voter sees VP Harris quoting donald, repeating what he’s said he’d do, not letting him off the hook or softening it or normalizing it or explaining it away as “bullying.” The world’s biggest bully.
Someone said they worried for a child who is a truthteller, because people don’t like people who tell the truth, and I have to say that worry is justified. Even now, even in this moment when the people who were close enough to hear the uneven whirr of donald’s brain tell us in words as plain as they can muster that he is a fascist. That he wants power to do fascist things.
That he admired hitler’s generals who implemented his atrocities.
That he has vowed to use the US military against the “enemy within.”
What more do people need to hear? Why is not one of these things enough?
What fools these mortals be.
Words, that, despite the centuries upon centuries since William Shakespeare wrote them, are always, always true.
There is no being undecided between a hopeful, prosperous future and a brutal dictatorship with open promises of genocide, or at least “one really rough, nasty day.”
You can’t be undecided between someone who has plans to rein in healthcare costs, housing costs, grocery prices, and expand opportunities and someone who said something so horrible about Private Vanessa Guillen’s funeral costs I can’t repeat it.
You can’t be undecided between someone who said he wants to be a dictator on day one and someone who says she will heal the nation.
Let’s get it together, people.
And be fools no more.
Have a great Thursday.
