It’s sunny and pretty warm for December, 46 F (7.7 C) which actually doesn’t look that warm in Celsius. But it it’s a lot warmer than the teens we had.

Which has me thinking in a Fahrenheit loop, which is probably not that great blog-wise but you know me (probably) so I’m going to tell you anyway. This place is that close to stream-of-consciousness as it is.

So here goes.

It’s weird that, unlike Celsius, where freezing is 0, for Fahrenheit, freezing is 32. So there’s a long way to go to zero in F, teens are so much colder than they sound.

I did warn you.

But like most things, it’s sent me down a path, because wherever you are on the planet, no matter what system of temperature you use, we’re living in a Fahrenheit world. It’s a long way down to zero.

And the teens are so much colder than they sound.

It’s a changing one, though, because over the weekend, Syria’s authoritarian government fell, with former “President” Bashar al-Assad reportedly fleeing to Russia. It’s currently below freezing in Moscow, so I guess even he’s he’s going to have to adjust to a world much colder than he’s found so far.

We’ve yet to see if what comes next is better, right now all we can say is it is different.

The waves around the world are huge and tumultuous; in South Korea, Pres. Yoon escaped impeachment as his party didn’t show for the vote. Whether this is the time for men with monstrous egos or the time for their comeuppance, we can only wait and see.

At least score one for comeuppance.

But what do I know, I’m only a person sitting at a coffee table, pecking away at a computer.

I often wonder what it is in humans that makes peace and calm impossible. It happens at all senses of scale, from individuals up to men who deem themselves so entitled they will ruin and oppress the lives of millions for their own gratification, until, eventually, they are sent scurrying off to live defiantly free of the consequences of their actions.

Though of course we can’t say for how long. There’s a very serious epidemic of window heart attacks in Russia, and the inconvenient seem especially susceptible.

There are always people who choose drama for the sake of drama. They may not understand why themselves, and yet, there they are. Instead of giving them promotions and reality shows and countries, what if we treated that as a detriment rather than an asset?

What if we start small?

Because when you think about it, small is all we have.

Most of us, anyway. I mean if you have a country, you’re probably too busy to be reading this post anyway.

It’s going to get cold out there, F or C, even with the respite. Let’s do our best to bundle up.
